Snow/Heat Miser Berfore and after Color!❄️🔥

Hey fellow artists and fantasy lovers! I'm so excited to share a deeper dive into my latest character drawing that's gotten so much attention – my Snow/Heat Miser inspired elf! When I started this piece, I was really struck by the classic charm of the Snow Miser and Heat Miser. I wanted to capture their distinct personalities but blend them into an elf-like character, giving it my own whimsical twist. For instance, I imagined this character embodying both the frosty chill and fiery passion, hence the face split into fire and ice elements. Think about what elements you can combine to create unique characters! My process always starts with a good sketch. For this one, I actually used a Nicpro Pencil Set with pink lead. It's a bit unconventional, but I find the lighter pink easier to erase or cover up with colors later, giving me a lot of freedom in the 'before' stage. This initial sketch is where I define the features, like those sharp pointed ears and the flow of the hair, even before deciding on the full color palette. Then came the fun part: bringing it to life with color! The 'after' stage is where the magic really happens. I layered colors to create the vibrant contrast between the warm fire and cool ice halves. For the fiery side, I leaned heavily on my Ohuhu art Markers and Arteza Markers for broad strokes and bold hues, then added details and texture with Prisma colored pencils. The pencils are fantastic for blending and adding those subtle gradients that make the fire shimmer. On the icy side, I followed a similar approach, building up the cool blues and whites. I really focused on making the elf-like character look vibrantly colored to emphasize the dual nature. One small detail I loved adding was the striped scarf – it adds a touch of personality and helps bridge the two contrasting halves of the character. Drawing on Strathmore Bristol in 9x12 really helped the markers pop without bleeding, which is crucial for such detailed work.
