As someone who has experienced the pressures of conforming to societal expectations, I found empowering to embrace my identity as both a woman and a STEM enthusiast. The phrase “you can be both” resonates deeply because it breaks the stereotype that one has to choose between being girly and being scientifically driven. In nursing, for example, professionals must blend compassion with technical expertise—showing that emotional intelligence and scientific knowledge can coexist beautifully. From my perspective, engaging in nursing studies at IMU has been an inspiring journey. The demanding hours and intense learning curve test your resilience, but the supportive network of fellow #nursingstudents has been invaluable. Importantly, involvement in STEM-related communities encourages collaboration and growth without the fear of losing one’s unique personality or interests. Joining forums tagged #womeninstem and #nurses on social platforms helped me connect with diverse voices sharing similar experiences. These communities promote the idea that embracing your feminine qualities—your creativity, empathy, and style—actually enhances your abilities in STEM and healthcare. Whether it’s managing complex medical scenarios or pursuing innovative research, you do not have to sacrifice one part of yourself for another. Instead, embodying “you can be both” allows for a holistic and fulfilling personal and professional life.
