Hey everyone! Following up on my quick GRWM hair routine, I wanted to share even more tips and tricks that help me get those perfect, long-lasting curls, especially when I need to look my best, like for a class presentation! While my beachwaver curling iron is a total game-changer for speed, achieving truly stunning curly hair involves a few more steps and secrets I've picked up along the way. First off, the foundation is key. Always start with clean, dry hair. If your hair tends to be flat, a volumizing mousse applied to damp roots before blow-drying can make a huge difference in holding power. And yes, heat protection is non-negotiable! The Ouai hair oil I mentioned is fantastic for shine and protection, but a dedicated heat protectant spray can add an extra layer of defense against damage, keeping your hair healthy and vibrant. When it comes to the actual curling, sectioning properly is crucial for even results. I usually divide my hair into three to four main sections (bottom, middle, top), and then work with smaller, 1-inch subsections. This ensures every strand gets adequate heat and forms a consistent curl. For face-framing pieces, always curl away from your face for that flattering, open look. For the rest of your hair, alternating the direction of your curls (some towards the face, some away) can create a more natural, voluminous effect. A major tip for making your curly hair last? Let those curls cool completely before touching them! After I release a curl from the beachwaver curling iron, I often gently cup it in my hand and let it cool for a few seconds, or even pin it up with a small clip until my entire head is done. This "setting" time allows the curl to truly take its shape and hold. Once cool, a light-hold hairspray is your best friend. Don't go overboard, just a fine mist to lock everything in without making your hair stiff. If you're aiming for a softer, more brushed-out wave rather than defined ringlets, wait until all curls are completely cool, then gently brush them out with a wide-tooth comb or your fingers. This creates beautiful, effortless waves. For extra texture and volume, especially on day one, a quick spritz of texturizing spray at the roots and mid-lengths can really elevate the look. What about day two or three hair? Don't worry, your curly hair journey doesn't end after day one! To refresh, I like to use a dry shampoo at the roots to absorb any oil and add volume. For the lengths, a light curl refreshing spray or even just a spritz of water can reactivate some of the wave. Sometimes, a quick touch-up with the beachwaver curling iron on just a few strategic pieces is all you need to bring your style back to life. Getting ready for a big day, like that class presentation, means you want your hair to look flawless and last. By incorporating these extra steps – proper prep, mindful curling techniques, setting those curls, and smart refreshing – you'll not only master your GRWM routine but also ensure your beautiful curly hair stays perfect from morning till night. Experiment with these tips to find what works best for your hair type!
