... Read moreAs an amateur photographer, I find immense joy in capturing the natural beauty that surrounds us, especially in places like Spearfish, South Dakota. These landscapes offer a variety of lighting and seasonal changes that help me practice and improve my skills. I’ve also enjoyed branching out into portrait photography, like taking senior photos for friends, which brings a new creative challenge of capturing personality and emotion through the lens. One of the most rewarding aspects of photography for me is the storytelling part. Whether it’s a serene retreat setting such as the Black Hills Retreat Center or a candid moment during a photoshoot, every image has its own narrative. I often experiment with different angles, natural light, and backgrounds to bring that story to life. Engaging in online communities and using hashtags like #photographyvibes and #amateurphotographer has been invaluable. It connects me with fellow enthusiasts and offers feedback that pushes my craft further. If you’re starting out in photography, my advice is to keep practicing regularly, embrace trial and error, and share your work online to build confidence and get inspired. For anyone interested in more of my work, I maintain an Instagram account (@chloekeroffphotography) where I post not only my nature shots but also portraits and occasional themed photoshoots. Sharing these moments helps me remain motivated and continue exploring the vast world through my camera lens.
