Quick Legoshi Sculpt

... Read moreAfter finishing the Beastars anime, I was inspired to try my hand at sculpting Legoshi in 3D, capturing the unique character design and emotional depth that the show conveys. Using a digital sculpting platform, I started with basic shapes like UV spheres and tubes, which serve as the foundational geometry for the character. This method helps in maintaining proper proportions and allows a smoother transition into detailing. Working on an iPad with a sculpting app that supports voxel grids and wireframe views greatly helped me refine the model's structure. Features like moving brushes, smooth masks, and lasso tools made it easier to shape fur texture and facial expressions, essential to portraying Legoshi's gentle yet complex personality. I focused on creating symmetrical features first and then added asymmetrical details to give the model more life and realism, such as slight imperfections in fur and expression lines. The sculpt currently is a rough draft but the workflow involved careful planning of scene vertices and mesh topology to keep the file manageable while preserving detail quality. This quick sculpt was also a great opportunity to experiment with rendering settings like clay shaders and UV mapping, which will be crucial when I decide to texture the model fully. If you’re interested in 3D modeling or a fan of Beastars, experimenting with such a character can be a rewarding creative exercise. Planning to film a TikTok showcasing the sculpting process, I’ll share tricks and tips for those interested in anime character sculpting and the challenges of translating 2D anime designs into 3D. Stay tuned for a detailed breakdown of techniques and the tools I used to bring Legoshi to life digitally.
