Day 1: Postpartum OOTD
Welcome to my journey of picking and choosing clothes based off them making me feel good instead of the size on them. At this point, I am eight months postpartum and have been plus size the majority of my life.. I’ve come to the realization that I’ve spent too much time worrying about the number in the pants, skirt or dress..,and less about how it makes me feel. Time to do better.
Navigating fashion as a new mom can be challenging, especially when society often emphasizes size over comfort and self-expression. At eight months postpartum, I found myself caught in the common trap of fixating on numbers in clothing tags rather than how the clothes made me feel. My journey has shifted towards embracing outfits that bring joy, confidence, and comfort, regardless of size. One critical realization was that postpartum body changes are natural and unique to each individual. Instead of trying to squeeze into pre-pregnancy sizes, I learned to appreciate the beauty of my body's transformation. Shopping mindfully, I now prioritize breathable fabrics, flattering cuts, and pieces that align with my personal style and lifestyle as a busy mom. For anyone adjusting their wardrobe postpartum, I recommend starting with versatile basics and layering pieces. Comfortable stretch fabrics and loose fitting silhouettes not only support a fluctuating body but also help maintain confidence throughout the day. Accessories become a fun way to personalize any outfit without stress about body image. This shift in mentality has been empowering. By focusing on how clothes make me feel—uplifted, comfortable, and authentic—I have cultivated a healthier relationship with fashion and my postpartum body. My message to other moms is to reconnect with your style on your terms, celebrate your postpartum journey, and choose outfits that truly reflect your beautiful, evolving self.
