Thicker doesn't always mean better.

... Read moreDuring my recent renovation project, I initially thought that choosing the thickest plywood board would ensure the strongest furniture and cabinets. However, I quickly learned that thickness isn’t the only factor to consider. For example, I found that a thinner plywood could outperform a thicker one in strength if the material was solid throughout as opposed to hollow inside. This lesson became clear after comparing two different plywood boards side by side—what seemed like a thicker board was hollow, making it less sturdy. On the other hand, a thinner, denser board, solid through and through, offered better structural integrity. This experience highlighted the importance of asking about the material density, core composition, and manufacturing quality during consultations with carpenters or interior designers. Additionally, considering the wood type is crucial. Different woods have distinct densities and strength characteristics; hardwoods like oak or maple tend to be stronger and more durable than softwoods such as pine, regardless of thickness. So, insisting solely on thicker wood might lead to unnecessary expense without achieving the desired strength. Another tip I discovered was to pay attention to the ply layers and glue quality in plywood, which influences performance and longevity. Also, well-built joints and proper fastening techniques contribute significantly to the overall strength of carpentry work. For homeowners or anyone involved in renovation work, saving this knowledge can help you make smarter choices. Always ask your carpenter or designer about the material specifics and don’t assume that thicker means better. In my experience, focusing on a balance of thickness, material type, density, and craftsmanship leads to longer-lasting and more reliable results in home renovations.

🦦✨ A gentle reminder: being alone doesn’t mean being lonely.
Some of the most healing moments happen in the quiet when you slow down, breathe deeply, and simply enjoy your own company. You don’t always need noise, plans, or people around you to feel complete. Take yourself out for a coffee, watch the sunset, read a good book, or just sit with your thought
