Working on my first comic book. Take a look.

Starting my very first indie comic book has been an incredible journey, full of learning curves and unexpected joys! When I first decided to dive into webcomic creation, I wasn't sure where to begin. It truly is about mastering the art of webcomic creation, and I'm learning something new every single day. One of the biggest challenges, but also the most rewarding parts, is finding inspiration in the everyday. It's amazing how mundane observations can spark entire plotlines. For instance, I've found myself watching people in ordinary situations – like a man on the phone next to an ATM, or two women chatting in a kitchen – and imagining the hidden stories and emotions playing out. These simple observations often form the backbone of my narrative. Other times, the inspiration comes from more dramatic events, like a character getting a surprise phone notification that changes everything, or the intensity of a heated discussion, perhaps even a man yelling in frustration. Capturing these slices of life, from quiet moments to sudden conflicts, and infusing them with emotion is what makes an indie comic truly connect with readers. Developing compelling characters has also been a fascinating process. You start with a basic idea, and then they begin to take on a life of their own, influencing the story in unexpected ways. I love exploring complex relationships, whether it's a family dealing with dysfunction, like the sad young woman and frustrated mother in a diner scene, or friends supporting each other through a 'big break' or difficult times. Even the setting plays a huge role; sketching out a familiar diner with cars outside, or a tense scene near a bunker, instantly sets a mood. Every panel is a chance to tell a piece of the story, even if it's just a subtle expression on a woman's face or the detail of a man serving food. The beauty of working on an indie webcomic is the sheer creative freedom it offers. There are no strict corporate rules, which allows for unique storylines and art styles. Whether it's a quirky little girl comic strip designed to make you smile, or something with a darker, more mysterious edge, like a scenario involving a man dragging a body (don't worry, it's all fictional drama that adds suspense!), I get to explore different genres and themes. My goal is to build a world where anything can happen, from lighthearted conversations to intensely personal moments, all told in my own distinct indie webcomic style. If you're thinking about creating your own first webcomic, my biggest advice is just to start. Don't worry about it being perfect from day one. Focus on your passion for storytelling and drawing. There are so many resources out there for mastering the art of webcomic creation, from online tutorials and courses to supportive communities. Seeing my panels come to life, from that initial spark of an idea – perhaps even a reference to a secret bunker, or a character dealing with a phone call – to a fully drawn scene, is immensely satisfying. It's a challenging yet incredibly rewarding journey, and I’m excited to share more of it as my comic develops and evolves!
