February Devotional – Day 2 Rooted in God’s Love
“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” — 1 John 4:16
Reflection
Being rooted in love begins with knowing where that love comes from. God doesn’t just give love — He is love. That means His love isn’t seasonal, emotional, or dependent on your performance. It’s constant, faithful, and unchanging.
When your life is rooted in God’s love, you no longer have to strive to be worthy. You don’t have to earn His presence or prove your value. You live from a place of security, knowing you are already held, already seen, already loved.
The more we rely on His love, the deeper our roots grow. And when storms come — doubt, fear, rejection, or weariness — we don’t collapse. We remain grounded, because our foundation isn’t built on feelings, but on the truth of who God is.
Reflection Question
Where have you been trying to find love, approval, or security apart from God?
Prayer
Lord, help me to truly know and rely on Your love. Remove every false belief that tells me I have to earn what You freely give. Root my heart deeply in the truth that You are love, and that when I remain in You, I am never alone. Let Your love shape how I see myself and how I walk each day. Amen.
Living a life rooted in God’s love has transformed my perspective immensely, especially during challenging times. I used to seek approval and love from external sources—friends, accomplishments, even social media validation—which always left me feeling insecure and unfulfilled. But after embracing the truth that “God is love,” as highlighted in 1 John 4:16, I realized that His love isn’t conditional or fleeting but constant and faithful. This foundation means that when doubts, fears, or rejection come my way, I no longer crumble or question my worth. Instead, I am grounded by the deep roots of God’s love, which provide a sense of peace and security that the world cannot offer. It’s like having an unshakeable anchor amid life’s storms. One personal practice that helped deepen these roots was daily reflection and prayer, asking God to remove any false beliefs about needing to earn His love. Over time, this practice helped me replace feelings of inadequacy with confidence rooted in God’s unchanging nature. Relying on His love reshaped how I see myself and how I approach relationships and challenges. If you’ve ever found yourself searching for love, approval, or security in anything other than God, I encourage you to pause and reflect on where your roots are planted. When we remain connected to God’s love, we find strength that surpasses circumstances. This devotional reminds us that living in love means living in God, and that truth is the ultimate source of our worth and hope.
