Surprised at the turn in events in this book 📚

Currently reading Cruel Angel by Rebecca Kenney. When I picked this up at Barnes and Noble after reading the back, it seemed pretty straight forward w how the plot would be. I’m about 38% in and the twist in events and plot kind of caught me off guard lol.

7/6 Edited to

... Read moreReading "Cruel Angel" by Rebecca Kenney quickly became an unforgettable experience for me. Initially, I thought I knew where the story was headed based on the synopsis from Barnes and Noble, but the narrative took a surprising twist about a third into the book that completely shifted my perspective. This unexpected development added layers of complexity to the characters and deepened the dark romance elements, making it far richer than a typical plot. What really stood out was how the author integrated vivid and haunting imagery, such as scenes described backstage in an old theater, complete with nostalgic details like a mint-green sink and partially dismantled bathroom stalls. These moments created a unique atmospheric tension that fueled the book's eerie and emotional tone. The interplay between the characters felt organic, especially with dialogue where voices mingle and a sense of haunting presence is felt, adding to the intrigue. The theme of trust and betrayal is handled very deftly, showing not just surface-level conflict but delving into the psychological and emotional facets of the protagonist's journey. Those subtle moments where the protagonist reflects on their own performance or trust in others resonated deeply and made the characters feel real. If you're a fan of dark romance novels that combine suspense, unexpected twists, and deep character development, "Cruel Angel" is a must-read. The book balances a gothic atmosphere with raw emotional storytelling, inviting readers to look beyond the surface and experience the transformative power of unexpected narrative turns. It’s a great addition to your #summerreads list and perfect for anyone who appreciates books that keep you guessing while delivering a heartfelt story.
