If you’re a multiple book reader, read these simultaneously 🤌🏼✨
I love reading three different books at a time, usually 1 in kindle, 1 physical copy, & 1 audible. I’m currently listening to the audiobook of Phantom, while reading the physical copy of Haunting Adeline. I’ve skipped reading the tiny journal entries they show in the Haunting Adeline book so it doesn’t spoil the book the Phantom. Definitely recommend reading them together!
I absolutely resonate with the idea of reading multiple books at once! It's transformed my reading life. Like Christine, I've discovered that having a mix of formats – be it a Kindle ebook for on-the-go, an immersive physical copy for cozy evenings, or an audiobook for my commutes and chores – keeps my reading fresh and exciting. For me, the key to successful simultaneous reading is understanding why you're doing it. Are you trying to escape a reading slump? Do you find yourself in different moods throughout the day? Or maybe you just want to get through your TBR pile faster! I often pair a dense non-fiction or a slower-paced literary fiction with a fast-paced thriller or a light romance. This way, if I'm not in the mood for one, I can easily switch to another without feeling guilty or getting bored. I find this especially helpful when one book feels emotionally heavy; I can always jump to a lighter read for a mental break. One of my favorite methods, similar to the original post, is pairing an audiobook with a physical or ebook. For instance, I might be listening to a sprawling fantasy series, which is perfect for walking the dog or doing dishes, while diving into a gripping contemporary romance on my Kindle during my lunch break. This prevents mental fatigue and keeps the stories distinct. I've found that listening to an epic like Phantom via audiobook really enhances the world-building, while a deeply character-driven physical book like Haunting Adeline allows me to savor every detail. When it comes to picking books, think about contrast. If you're reading something intense, like the dark romance of Haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton (which I adore for its dark, gothic aesthetics!), maybe your second read could be a lighter fantasy or a humorous memoir. The contrast helps avoid confusing storylines or character names. I often find that books from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author H.D. Carlton, with their distinct themes, are great as a standalone immersive read or paired with something completely different for variety. It’s all about creating a balanced reading diet! Another tip I swear by is tracking. Whether it’s a simple note in my phone, a dedicated reading journal, or an app like Goodreads, jotting down where I left off in each book is crucial. Nothing's worse than picking up a book and realizing you have no idea what's happening! For ebooks and audiobooks, the progress is usually saved automatically, which is a huge plus. For physical copies, I like to use different colored bookmarks or even sticky notes for each book to visually distinguish them. It sounds simple, but it saves so much frustration! Finally, don't be afraid to experiment! It took me a while to find my perfect combination, but now I can confidently say I'm a proud multiple-book reader. It's not about finishing books faster, but about enriching your reading experience and always having the perfect story for every moment. Give it a try – you might just discover your new favorite way to read!
