On September 19, 2022, my life changed forever. My son and I were walking home when we walked into our worst nightmare—our home being broken into. In an instant, gunfire erupted. We were both shot. I survived, but the bullet left me **paralyzed from the neck down**. Because of this, I lost custody of my son.
Since then, I’ve been fighting for my life in **neglectful nursing homes**, suffering from **severe bedsores, muscle contractures, and lack of proper care**. But I refuse to give up. **There is hope—I have a chance to walk again with the right therapy, surgery, and medical treatment.**
I am also fighting to **find stable housing and proper care** so I can heal and be the mother my son deserves. I use **my entire disability check** to support him from a distance, but I just want to **hold him, care for him, and be there for him again.**
