All you need is some red paint, paper (we used heart-shaped paper, which was extra cute!), and a tray to contain the mess. We pressed her hand onto the paper, leaving a perfect red handprint. Gather a few red fruits and vegetables like strawberries, raspberries, cherry tomatoes, or red bell pepper slices. Let them touch, smell, and taste each one. We talk about how they are all red but taste different. It’s a sensory experience that links the color to familiar objects and flavors, making learning delicious! Plus, it encourages them to try new healthy foods. For a more sensory approach, a Red Sensory Bin is always a hit. Fill a bin with red-colored pasta, pom-poms, fabric scraps, or even red-dyed rice. Add scoops, cups, and small toys. It provides a tactile way for them to immerse themselves in the color red. I often hide small red objects like buttons or beads in there for them to find. It keeps them engaged for ages, developing their fine motor skills and color recognition simultaneously! Finally, don't underestimate the power of Red Story Time. Pick out books that feature the color red prominently. As you read, point out all the red objects on the pages. You can even ask them, 'What else is red on this page?' This helps them connect the visual of the color with language and stories, expanding their vocabulary related to colors. Reading is such a gentle way to reinforce learning.
