Here’s another copper-inspired build, this time a fountain/landmark inspired by the copper golems.
The first step is to make a 7x7 square hole in the ground that is 2 blocks deep. You can replace the bottom of the hole with cobblestone to make it look nicer. Once the main hole is built, add a 3x3x2 stack of stone blocks in the center.
Now you can dress up the base using more stone (mixing in copper or wooden blocks also looks nice). On the outer rim of the 7x7 square, surround it with a 9x9 square of stone blocks. Beyond the 9x9 use slabs to add an 11x11 square ring.
In the middle, remove the center block on each side and replace it with copper and stone slabs to make an indent in the shape. Add a stone block in the middle of this stack to support the next part.
Use four stone walls stacked on top of each other to make a pole to support the “Golem.” Then, place a 3x3x2 rectangle of copper blocks to make the Golem's head shape. Add a single block of copper on each side to make a nose. Place a lightning rod on top of the head, and then you have a minimalist Copper Golem statue.
Lastly, decorate the space by adding lanterns on chains, golem statues, and plants.
... Read moreBuilding unique landmarks in Minecraft is one of my favorite ways to personalize my world! After trying out this copper golem fountain, I realized how much potential copper blocks have beyond just roofs. If you're looking to add a distinctive focal point, a copper golem landmark is a fantastic choice, and it's simpler than you might think.
One of the coolest aspects of building with copper is its natural aging process, known as oxidization. As your copper golem statue sits in your world, it will slowly turn from a shiny orange to a beautiful green patina. I love watching the subtle changes over time! If you have a specific look in mind for your large copper head, remember you can always wax copper blocks at any stage of oxidization to freeze them in that state. This allows for amazing creative control, letting you mix and match different shades of copper for a truly custom golem build. You could even use a lightning rod to de-oxidize it if you want to revert some parts, which is a fun trick!
When I was planning my build, I thought about how to make the stone base even more versatile. While cobblestone walls and regular stone blocks look great, don't limit yourself! You could use deepslate for a darker, more imposing look, or even brick blocks for a more ancient, rustic feel. For the 7x7 square hole and the 3x3x2 central stack, consider using mossy cobblestone or mossy stone bricks to give it an overgrown, established vibe right from the start. This really helps the landmark blend into a natural landscape or an old ruin setting. Adding water to the base is crucial for the fountain effect, and if you want to make it more dynamic, try placing a bubble column source block at the bottom for a continuous upward flow, giving your fountain extra life.
Integrating your copper golem landmark into your existing Minecraft world is key to making it feel like a natural part of the landscape. I found that placing it in a town square, at the entrance to a grand base, or even as a centerpiece in a large garden works wonderfully. Around the 9x9 stone blocks and 11x11 slab rings of the base, add some landscaping. Think about lush greenery, custom trees, or even small flowerbeds to frame your impressive build. Paths leading up to it can also enhance its presence, making it feel like an important meeting point or a revered monument. Remember those small golem statues and hanging lanterns? They truly complete the scene, adding charm and practical lighting.
And for those who are interested in 'custom golems' or other 'copper minecraft builds,' this project is just the beginning! While this isn't a functional copper golem mob, creating statues like this allows for incredible artistic expression. You could create smaller, decorative copper figures around your main landmark or incorporate copper into other structures like elaborate roofs for your houses or stylized pathways. Knowing how to build this copper golem landmark gives you a solid foundation for many other awe-inspiring copper creations in your Minecraft world. Happy building!
