Preparing for my first solo journey as a disabled model was both exciting and a little nerve-wracking, but focusing on my makeup routine helped me feel empowered and confident. When wearing a mask, I’ve learned that prioritizing eyebrows and mascara really brings life to my face, especially since much of the makeup gets covered. I use Maybelline’s slim brow pencil and brow gel to keep my brows defined and natural-looking, which frames my eyes beautifully. Choosing the right mascara that’s easy to apply and accessible is key. Tilt Beauty mascara has been a favorite — it’s designed to be user-friendly for those with limited mobility, which makes all the difference. To even out my complexion, I like using Kosas Dream Beam as a brightener under my concealer, combined with tarte cosmetics concealer for coverage without heaviness. Applying a light bronzer like Rimmel London gives me a healthy, sun-kissed glow without needing a full face of makeup. Skincare also plays a pivotal role in my routine. I always start with a hydrating serum spray like d’Alba’s first spray serum to keep my skin fresh and calm, especially on busy travel days. Eye makeup needs to be subtle but effective, so I use essence cosmetics eyeliner for a gentle winged look that doesn’t irritate my eyes. Above all, I’ve learned to embrace what works for me and prioritize comfort—whether it’s through selecting products that are easy to use or choosing makeup looks that align with wearing a mask. For disabled individuals or anyone juggling unique challenges, finding personalized makeup solutions can be transformative. This journey has not only been about beauty but reclaiming my confidence and independence, one brush stroke at a time.
