4 things i wish i knew before buying a bunny 🐰🤍

on some random tuesday in late february 2025, i scrolled through a couple of bunny care tiktok videos and decided “hey, i wanna get a bunny.” so i called my boyfriend and asked him to come with me to roxoborough so i can buy my new furry friend. (fun fact: my boyfriend actually picked libby’s name!❤️) honestly? it was an absolute adventure, i was so excited the entire time and i just was so in love with libby and her cuteness. i laid out some blankets on the floor, gave her food and water, and let her have at it. months passed and libby started getting a little too comfortable for my liking😅 i wasn’t prepared to own and take quality care of a rabbit, and there’s plenty of times ive considered giving her to someone who could. but instead i continued my research and found better ways to provide my rabbit with comfort while also protecting my privacy. getting any kind of pet is a big commitment and responsibility, so make sure you’re FULLY prepared before you get one. love you cherubs 💓

... Read moreBringing a bunny into your home is a joyful decision, but it comes with its unique challenges and responsibilities. As you prepare to welcome a furry friend, understanding their needs will make all the difference. Rabbits are social, curious, and active animals that thrive on interaction and mental stimulation. It's important to create an enriching environment with plenty of safe toys and chew items to prevent them from nibbling on your furniture or personal belongings. One of the first considerations is whether to allow your bunny to roam freely or to provide a designated area. Free-roaming can be great but requires close supervision to ensure they don’t endanger themselves or damage your home. Alternatively, a safe enclosure can help manage their space while still providing comfort and security. Expense management is another critical point. Beyond initial costs, rabbits require regular expenditures for fresh food, bedding, and healthcare. Buying supplies like hay in bulk can save money in the long run and ensure your bunny has the right nutrition. Understanding the rabbit's personality is key too. Each bunny has its own quirks and temperament, which impacts how they'll interact with you and your household. To foster a strong bond, spend quality time with your bunny, engaging them in play and allowing them to explore safely. Rabbit care can be demanding at times, but the unconditional love and joy they bring are truly rewarding.
