Part 2: Why did my baby prefer the adult pool?! 🤔🏊‍♂️

After our baby’s first attempt at the medium pool didn’t go very well, we decided to let him try the adult pool instead.

The medium pool felt REALLY cold that day 🥶 Maybe because it wasn’t very sunny and the pool was sheltered from direct sunlight.

After drying baby, my hubby carried him while I went to check out the adult pool, thinking I might swim a lap or two before we headed home.

And surprisingly…

The adult pool felt MUCH warmer! ☀️

So we decided to let baby try it too, under very close supervision.

And guess what?

He actually smiled more! 🥹❤️

He still looked tired, but he seemed noticeably more relaxed.

Was it because the water was warmer?

Probably! 🥶➡️☀️

It made us wonder… maybe our baby wasn’t afraid of swimming after all. Maybe he was just uncomfortable with the water temperature.

Either way, it was such an interesting first swimming experience! 🥹💦

... Read moreFrom my experience, water temperature plays a huge role in a baby's swimming enjoyment. Babies are much more sensitive to cold than adults, so even a slightly chilly pool can make them uncomfortable or hesitant. I noticed that the medium pool was shaded and felt cold, which probably made my baby uneasy and less willing to relax. Switching to the adult pool, which was sunlit and noticeably warmer, made a big difference. Not only did the water feel more comfortable, but my baby actually smiled and showed signs of enjoyment. Another factor to consider is the environment and atmosphere surrounding the pool. The adult pool felt more open and sunny, which seemed to create a more inviting and positive mood for my baby. I also realized how important close parental supervision and calm encouragement are to help a baby feel secure in a new setting. Holding him closely and ensuring careful watch helped him trust the experience more. Many parents might assume that a child should start in a smaller, specialized pool, but this experience showed me that comfort with the water can outweigh size or designated pool types. When choosing a pool for your baby, always test the water temperature and consider the overall ambiance. A warmer, sunlit pool can encourage your baby to relax, explore, and enjoy splashing around. Lastly, don’t worry if your baby looks tired after the swim. Swimming can be quite stimulating yet tiring for little ones. Shorter or more frequent sessions in comfortable water might be the key to building a positive swimming habit. Overall, observing and adapting to your baby's reactions during swim time will create a fun and safe experience that helps foster a lifelong love of water.
