... Read moreOkay, so confession time. I was at the optometrist today, literally *getting my eyes checked*, and as the doctor was asking me to read those tiny letters, all I could think was, 'Man, I really need a new prescription for my taste in partners!' Seriously, if only they had lenses that could filter out questionable judgment when it comes to dating. Remember that one time you looked back at a past relationship and thought, 'What was I seeing in him?' Yeah, that's been me lately, and if you know, you know. #iykyk, right? It's like, you meet someone, and at first, everything seems great. You're swept up in the excitement of college life, maybe it's just the thrill of something new. But then, as time goes on, the rose-tinted glasses start to slip, and you're left wondering if you were temporarily blind! It’s a common experience, especially during those formative college years when you’re still figuring yourself out. You're navigating friendships, academics, and then suddenly, there's a 'him' who makes you question everything you thought you knew about yourself and your choices. Being a college student, you see all sorts of personalities, and sometimes, you just pick the wrong one for you. It's not always about them being 'bad,' per se, but just... not right for *you*. And that reflection often hits hard, making you feel like you need a complete vision overhaul. The 'boys ugh' sentiment is so real, isn't it? It’s not about being anti-men, it’s about the collective sigh you let out when you realize you've invested time and emotions into someone who just wasn't worth it, or who taught you a tough lesson the hard way. It's incredibly relatable to feel that pang of regret, thinking 'what I saw in him' was clearly an illusion! I've learned that sometimes, those 'what was I seeing' moments are actually incredibly valuable. They teach you what you don't want, and they help define what you truly deserve. It’s part of the growth process, even if it feels a bit embarrassing or frustrating at the time. So, while I was getting my eyes checked for actual vision, I also felt like I was getting a much-needed check-up on my dating vision, too! It’s a gentle reminder to trust your gut instincts more, and maybe, just maybe, spend a bit more time getting to know someone before diving in headfirst. For anyone out there who feels like they need a new prescription for their love life, remember you’re absolutely not alone. It’s okay to look back and cringe a little, as long as you learn from it and move forward with clearer intentions. And hey, making sure your actual eyesight is top-notch is a form of self-care too, so win-win! 😉 This journey, from being a young college student to eventually becoming an ALUMNI, is filled with so many learning curves, and some of the steepest ones are definitely in the relationship department. So here's to clearer vision, in more ways than one, and making smarter, more self-loving choices ahead! We all deserve to see clearly when it comes to who we let into our lives.
