Visiting Red Chilli House offers a wonderful immersion into the bold and vibrant world of Sichuan cuisine right in Melbourne’s Chinatown. From my personal experience, the highlight is definitely the hairy crab meat served with either rice or noodles—it's rich, flavour-packed, and truly authentic. Another must-try is the Chongqing spicy crispy chicken; it's loaded with dried chili that delivers that signature numbing and spicy sensation characteristic of Sichuan food. The kongfu master sauerkraut fish was another standout dish I enjoyed, offering a perfect balance of sour and spicy notes that awaken the palate. One unique aspect that caught my attention is their camellia oolong milk tea, which perfectly complements the spiciness of the dishes, adding a smooth, slightly sweet contrast. The venue itself is spacious, accommodating up to 104 guests, making it ideal for both intimate meals and lively celebrations. The atmosphere is lively but comfortable, enhancing the overall dining experience. If you’re planning a visit, I recommend arriving with a group to sample a variety of dishes, including their steamed egg with minced pork and the stir-fried water spinach, which provide refreshing and comforting elements amidst the bold flavours. Whether you’re a Sichuan cuisine enthusiast or exploring it for the first time, Red Chilli House in Melbourne offers a genuine taste adventure right in the city’s vibrant Chinatown district.
