45 Pórtense como el criado fiel e inteligente a quien su amo pone al frente de la servidumbre para que les tenga la comida dispuesta a su hora. 46 ¡Feliz aquel criado a quien su amo, al llegar, encuentre cumpliendo con su deber! 47 Les aseguro que le confiará el cuidado de toda su hacienda. 48 Pero si otro mal criado piensa en su interior: “Mi señor se retrasa” 49 y comienza a maltratar a sus compañeros y se junta a comer y beber con borrachos, 50 un día, cuando menos lo espere, llegará de improviso su señor. 51 Entonces lo castigará severamente dándole un lugar entre los hipócritas. This story highlights not just the importance of fulfilling duties on time but also maintaining integrity when supervision seems absent. For example, in my own experience managing projects at work, I found that those who consistently prepared and cared for the tasks entrusted to them gained trust and further responsibilities. Conversely, neglecting duties or engaging in distractions often led to setbacks and mistrust. The phrase 'fidelidad en el servicio' (faithfulness in service) especially resonates because it reminds us that being dependable is a virtue that transcends any specific job or role. It’s about cultivating an attitude of readiness and respect for the trust placed in us. The message encourages vigilance and accountability, knowing that actions have consequences even if oversight isn’t immediate. Moreover, this parable also calls attention to the mindset we adopt about authority and expectation. Those who presume their master’s delay will excuse them end up facing sudden judgment. This warns against complacency and urges vigilance in all our commitments. On a more personal level, I have experienced that consistent reliability often results not only in personal growth but also in strengthening relationships – both professionally and spiritually. In sum, embracing faithfulness in service fosters a strong character and invites blessings, as the faithful servant is rewarded with greater trust. It challenges us to live with conscious responsibility, knowing that integrity in the small things leads to greater stewardship and respect.
