Tethered Cap... Why does the bottle cap have to stick to the bottle?
Get to know "Tethered Cap."
When you open the bottle, notice that the lid "doesn't come out of the bottle." That is, the Tethered Cap is a lid designed to connect to the bottleneck throughout the use so that the lid doesn't fall away, becomes a small piece of garbage that is difficult to store and risks going to the sea.
Why change?
🔺 in Europe, there is a Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD). Since July 3, 2024, a Del3-liter plastic bottled / boxed drink requires a lid attached to the package at all times. The reason is to allow the "lid" to be stored and recycled with the bottle itself, reducing leakage to the environment. In Thailand, some manufacturers have already started using new versions of bottle tea and ready-to-drink drinks as well.
🔺 Bottle Cap and Lid "has long been one of the most common junk items on beaches around the world. Keeping the lid from the bottle is a way to reduce small pieces of junk that work.
🔺 The lid is with the bottle, making it easier to collect and recycle, reducing the sorting of small pieces that often disappear along the way.
🔺 Many manufacturers adjust their design to be easier to turn on and off, and some use bio-based sugar cane plastic to reduce the carbon footprint of the lid.
So what does the user have to do?
Open drinking normally, but do not pull the lid out of the bar, by folding / prying the lid out of the mouth of the bottle and drinking. Finish, close the lid and dump the entire bottle down the recycling bin along the way, so that the sorting system works at full capacity (this principle is consistent with the spirit of SUPD requiring the lid to be recycled to the same packaging).

หลายคนเจอ “ฝาติดขวด” (Tethered Cap) ครั้งแรกจะเผลอคิดว่าเป็นของเสียหรือฝาเสีย แต่จริง ๆ แล้วตั้งใจออกแบบมาเพื่อแก้ปัญหาที่เราเจอบ่อยมาก: ฝาขวดเป็นขยะชิ้นเล็กที่หล่นหายง่าย เก็บยาก และมักหลุดไปอยู่ตามถนน ท่อระบายน้ำ หรือไหลลงทะเลได้ง่ายกว่าตัวขวด จากที่ลองใช้เอง สิ่งที่ต่างจากฝาเดิมคือ “แถบพลาสติก” ที่เชื่อมฝาไว้กับคอขวด ทำให้หลังบิดเปิดแล้วฝาจะห้อยอยู่ข้าง ๆ ไม่ได้หลุดออกไปเลย ข้อดีคือเวลาเราดื่มระหว่างเดิน/ขับรถ/ออกกำลังกาย โอกาสทำฝาหายแทบไม่มี และพอปิดก็ปิดได้เลย ไม่ต้องคอยหา วิธีใช้งานให้ไม่หงุดหงิด (และไม่ทำให้ฝาขาดจากแถบ) 1) บิดเปิดตามปกติจนได้ยิน/รู้สึกว่า “ซีลขาด” 2) งัดหรือพับฝาไปด้านข้างให้พ้นปากขวด บางรุ่นจะมีมุมที่ล็อกให้ฝาค้างไว้ ลองดันเบา ๆ จนฝาอยู่ตำแหน่งที่ไม่ชนหน้า 3) ดื่มได้เลย ถ้ารู้สึกว่าฝาสะบัดกลับมา ให้หมุนขวดนิดหนึ่งหรือปรับมุมพับให้ฝาค้าง 4) หลังดื่มเสร็จ บิดปิดให้แน่น แล้วทิ้ง “ทั้งขวดทั้งฝา” ลงถังรีไซเคิลไปพร้อมกัน หลายคนสงสัยว่าแล้วจะรีไซเคิลยากขึ้นไหม? ประสบการณ์ส่วนตัวคือ “ง่ายขึ้น” สำหรับผู้ใช้ เพราะเรามีชิ้นส่วนครบ ไม่ต้องแยกฝาไว้ต่างหากให้หายระหว่างทาง และเจตนาหลักของฝาติดขวดก็คือช่วยให้ฝาถูกเก็บรวบรวมไปกับบรรจุภัณฑ์ ลดโอกาสรั่วไหลสู่สิ่งแวดล้อม โดยเฉพาะขยะทะเลที่กระทบสัตว์น้ำโดยตรง ทริคเล็ก ๆ เวลาแยกทิ้งที่บ้าน: ถ้าพื้นที่คุณรับรีไซเคิลขวดพลาสติก ให้เทน้ำ/เครื่องดื่มออก เขย่าให้แห้งพอประมาณ แล้วปิดฝาไว้เหมือนเดิม จากนั้นบีบขวดให้แบนเพื่อลดปริมาตร (ถ้าทำได้โดยยังปิดฝาแน่น) วิธีนี้ช่วยให้ขวดไม่เด้งคืนรูปและจัดเก็บง่าย สรุปคือ Tethered Cap ไม่ได้ทำมาให้ใช้งานยาก แต่เป็นดีไซน์ที่ชวนให้เราทิ้งให้ “ครบชิ้น” มากขึ้น ลดโอกาสที่ฝาจะกลายเป็นขยะชิ้นเล็กที่ไปไม่ถึงระบบจัดการ และสุดท้ายก็ช่วยลดขยะพลาสติกที่หลุดลงทะเลได้จริง
