Vision/Mood Boards for New Homes 🔑

I know, I know, this may seem super obvious, but I have a few people in my life who never considered it and I regret not doing it when I moved.

Vision/ mood boards whatever you call them are great not just for visualizing what you want but collecting ideals in an easy access spot. Make a Pinterest board, make an actual poster, make it on power point like I do… whatever works for ya babes. But don’t just include color and aesthetics. Mix in organization ideas. Keep in mind closet and kitchen space. If there is a specific style of furniture you want. Then when you’re out shopping for things you can reference these photos to make sure it actually works for what you want. And as an impatient person I’m gonna say it… wait for the right piece!! If you don’t love it and/or it’s not gonna work for what you want just wait because most likely you’ll end up trying to replace it later anyways (I’m totally not speaking from experience here😅). Also add a couple items that you are willing to splurge on. I know sticking to budget is import and definitely save money any and everywhere you can but having one or two items that are your ideal that you’re willing to spend a little more money on is like the treat yourself item(s) when all is done. Be frugal but also make yourself happy!! Also DIY and thrift the shit outta some of your spaces to save some money cause I promise most of the time those are the areas you’ll love the most.

By using platforms like Pinterest or traditional collages, you can curate styles that resonate with you. Begin by collecting images that reflect colors, textures, and furniture styles you admire. Incorporate practical elements like closet layouts and kitchen organization ideas to establish functional design within your aesthetics. It’s essential to integrate both essential pieces and those special items you're willing to splurge on. Think of these as 'treat yourself' investments, enhancing the overall feel of your home. These choices should not only showcase your personal style but should also complement the functionality of your living space. Being selective allows for a curated environment that doesn’t feel overcrowded or rushed. Lastly, don’t underestimate the power of DIY and thrifting—often, these elements infuse character and uniqueness into your design.
