how we survived nicu.

After a beautiful vbac, only hours later was my baby boy taken to another unit and I was DEVASTATED.

mentally and physically exhausted, God got my baby through nicu and allowed my body to keep going.

The restless nights, pumping, praying, begging, HE healed my baby boy… He’s the only way. We made friends, nurses became family and days got easier!

We are home now and I’m incredibly grateful for the loving hospitality our nurses and doctors granted us.

HE is the way! #nicu #godisgood #sahm

Parents often face overwhelming emotions during this critical period, including stress and anxiety. This emotional rollercoaster can lead to fatigue and a sense of helplessness. It's essential for parents to find support systems, whether through healthcare professionals, family, or online communities, to share their experiences. Engaging with medical staff not only provides necessary information but also fosters a sense of connection, making the experience less isolating. Practical tips for surviving the NICU journey include practicing self-care, such as taking breaks when possible, eating well, and ensuring adequate sleep. Connecting with other NICU parents can also be immensely beneficial. Many hospitals offer support groups or resources to help navigate this difficult time. Additionally, creating a journal can help parents process their feelings and track their baby's progress. Allowing oneself to grieve and experience the highs and lows is crucial as the NICU journey can fluctuate dramatically from one day to the next. Ultimately, many families emerge from the NICU with a renewed sense of gratitude, resilience, and a deeper appreciation for their child's health and the support they received.
