book review god of pain
Book Review
Book name: god of pain
Author: rina kent
Genre: dark romance
My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My review: the reason i gave this book 4 stars is because annika and creighton just weren’t very exciting to read about and when it comes to dark romance I like the female characters to put up a little bit of a fight and annika wasn’t really putting up a fight with him.
I was more excited seeing there parents then I was seeing them

Alright, fellow dark romance enthusiasts, let's dive a bit deeper into Rina Kent's 'God of Pain'! When I first picked this up, the striking cover immediately caught my eye – that deep, dark background with purple text and those intricate thorny rose designs really set the mood for what I hoped would be a deliciously angsty read. It’s part of her popular Legacy of Gods series, and if you’re familiar with Rina Kent, you know she doesn't shy away from intense, morally gray characters. My personal experience with 'God of Pain' was a bit of a rollercoaster, primarily because of the main characters, Creighton King and Annika. As someone who absolutely lives for a strong female lead who challenges her male counterpart in dark romance, I was genuinely hoping for Annika to bring a bit more fire. Don't get me wrong, she has her moments, but I often found myself wanting her to push back harder against Creighton. Creighton himself is everything you'd expect from a King brother – dominant, possessive, and brooding. He definitely embodies that anti-hero trope, but for me, the dynamic between them didn't quite hit the explosive notes I crave when I pick up a dark romance. Now, let's talk about the burning question many of you have: Is 'God of Pain' spicy? Oh, absolutely! Rina Kent delivers on the heat, so if you're looking for those intense, steamy scenes, you won't be disappointed. The spice is definitely woven into the plot, contributing to the dark and obsessive themes. However, for me, while the scenes were well-written, they sometimes felt a little disconnected from the emotional warfare I was hoping for between Annika and Creighton. It’s definitely a steamy read, but perhaps not as emotionally charged as some other dark romances I’ve enjoyed. Beyond the main couple, I found myself unexpectedly drawn to the parents' backstory and presence in the book. There's a rich history there that often felt more compelling than the present-day narrative of Annika and Creighton. If you're a fan of complex family sagas intertwined with dark romance, you might find that aspect particularly captivating. The plot itself moves at a steady pace, with enough twists and turns to keep you engaged, and there are certainly moments that stand out for their raw emotion or shocking revelations. If you’re considering reading 'God of Pain,' I’d recommend it if you enjoy Rina Kent's other works, appreciate a morally gray hero like Creighton King, and don't mind a heroine who, in my opinion, sometimes takes a backseat. It's a solid dark romance read, especially if you're invested in the Legacy of Gods universe and want all the answers that come with this series. Just keep in mind that my personal preference leans towards heroines who put up more of a fight – but your mileage may vary!
