I wanted him to post me..
In the beginning, it really bothered me that my boyfriend, now my husband, never posted me. And he still doesn’t lol. Before we got together, he used to post a lot.. pictures of himself, his dogs, random things, even his travels. So naturally, when we started dating, I assumed he’d post something about us too, especially on big days like my birthday, our anniversary, or during our vacations. But nothing ever showed up. I’d refresh his page hoping to see a story, a post, even a blurry picture of us but it never came. And as someone who enjoys documenting my life, it hurt. I love posting about my food, my dog, my family, and yes, my relationship. I like having those memories to look back on, so it felt disappointing to not be part of his in that same way.
It bothered me so much that I finally brought it up. I told him how I felt how it made me feel invisible, like he wasn’t proud of me or our relationship. I wasn’t asking for a grand post every week, just a little acknowledgment here and there. But he was surprisingly unbothered. He calmly explained that he just didn’t post anymore, that it wasn’t personal. Yet, even after that conversation, I’d tag him in photos and he wouldn’t repost them or say anything. It made me feel like I was showing our life alone, while he stayed silent.
Eventually, I just let him be. I stopped expecting anything and stopped letting it eat at me. I continued to post what I wanted memories that made me happy, moments that meant something to me. And I realized I didn’t need his online validation to enjoy or celebrate our relationship. It took time, but I let go of the expectation that he had to show love the same way I did.
In the end, I still love posting our little moments, and I still tag him sometimes not for validation, but because it makes me smile. He may never be the guy who shares our life online, but he’s the one living it with me every single day. And that’s more than enough.

It's a common feeling, isn't it? That little pang in your heart when you scroll through social media and see everyone else’s partners proudly displaying their love, while yours... well, he just doesn't. You might even find yourself wondering, "I wish he'd post me!" or even contemplating, "Will posting on social media make him miss me?" I've been there, feeling that sting, and it's completely valid to want your partner to shout your love from the digital rooftops. But what if there's a deeper, more fulfilling way to experience and define love, beyond the likes and shares? It's easy to jump to conclusions – "He's not proud of me," "He's hiding something." But often, the truth is far simpler and less personal. Many partners don't post for a variety of reasons: Privacy: Some people are genuinely private and prefer to keep their personal life, including relationships, off public platforms. Not a Social Media Person: For some, social media isn't a priority or even enjoyable. They might rarely post anything, let alone relationship updates. Different Love Language: His way of showing love might be entirely offline. As the saying goes, he shows love through actions, not social media posts. He might express affection through quality time, acts of service, or words of affirmation in private. Digital Detox/Boundaries: He might actively choose to limit his screen time or maintain clear boundaries between his digital and real life. Understanding his perspective can shift your own from hurt to empathy. Now, let's talk about the idea of using social media to make someone miss you. While it might give a fleeting sense of power or attention, it's rarely a recipe for genuine connection or long-term happiness. Trying to manipulate feelings through curated posts often backfires, creating a superficial dynamic built on insecurity rather than authentic desire. True longing comes from shared experiences, deep conversations, and genuine affection, not from a perfectly timed selfie designed to evoke jealousy. Instead of focusing on what you can post to get a reaction, focus on building a life that genuinely makes you happy and fulfilled – that's far more attractive! If you still feel a desire for some form of online acknowledgment, effective communication is key. Instead of accusing ("You never post me!"), express your feelings ("I sometimes feel a little down when I see others' partners posting, and I wish we could share some of our happy moments too"). Be open to listening to his reasons without judgment. Perhaps there's a compromise: a rare story, a shared photo in a private album, or simply understanding that his love is expressed differently. Remember, real love doesn't require online validation, but open communication helps bridge understanding. Ultimately, the journey I took taught me that my worth, and the strength of my relationship, isn't measured by likes or public posts. It's in the quiet moments, the inside jokes, the unwavering support, and the countless ways he shows up for me every single day. Look for the actions that speak louder than any social media post. Does he listen to you? Does he support your dreams? Does he make you feel safe and cherished? These are the true indicators of love. Cultivating self-worth from within, and focusing on the genuine, lived experiences of your relationship, will bring far more peace and happiness than any online validation ever could. Your love story is for you to live, not just for others to see.

Not being posted on social media? It's all about how your partner shows love in real life, not just online! ❤️
