Marrying someone I didn’t love sounds awful…

If I had to choose, I’d marry for love over stability. As much as I know stability is important in life, I could never picture myself marrying someone I didn’t truly love. For me, love is the core of marriage, and stability is something that can be built together when the relationship is right.

My husband and I actually started dating when we were just 12 years old. We grew up together, learned so much about life side by side, and when we finally got married at 26, it was because we both felt stable and ready. We wanted to build a solid foundation so that our marriage would be strong and lasting, not rushed or shaky.

I know not everyone will agree with my view, but this is what I truly believe. For me, love is the heart of marriage, and stability can be built together. #GirlTalk #girlpov #AskLemon8 #lemon8challenge #lemon8contest

... Read moreThe age-old question of whether to marry for love or stability is one many of us grapple with. While my personal journey led me to prioritize love, I've come to understand that true, lasting stability in a marriage often blossoms from that deep well of affection and commitment. It's not about ignoring practicality, but rather seeing love as the most resilient foundation upon which everything else can be built. When you're facing what feels like 'unforeseen circumstances' – be it financial hardship, health scares, or personal crises – the bond of love acts as an incredible buffer. It's in these moments that a relationship built on genuine care truly shines. Instead of crumbling under pressure, a couple that genuinely loves each other becomes a unified front. The stresses become shared, and the burden lightens because you're both invested in each other's well-being. From what I’ve seen and experienced, love makes the process of building stability, even from scratch, so much easier and less stressful. It transforms challenges into opportunities for growth, rather than sources of division. For any 'woman he loves' (or man she loves), feeling profoundly cherished and understood is paramount. This deep emotional connection fosters an environment where both partners feel secure enough to be vulnerable, to make mistakes, and to grow. It means you're not just surviving life's ups and downs, but actively thriving together. When your partner is truly ‘the woman he loves,’ she feels empowered to contribute, to share her dreams, and to face the world knowing she has unwavering support. This mutual strengthening makes the relationship incredibly robust, capable of weathering any storm because the foundation is emotional, not purely transactional. So, how do we cultivate this kind of love that naturally leads to extraordinary stability? It’s a continuous series of conscious choices. Firstly, open and honest communication is non-negotiable. Sharing your fears, hopes, and daily experiences strengthens your bond. Secondly, make time for each other – truly disconnect from distractions and connect with your partner. These moments, big or small, reinforce your emotional intimacy. Thirdly, support each other's individual growth. Celebrate successes and offer comfort during setbacks. Remember the OCR’s point: love strengthens a relationship, enabling a focus on thriving together rather than just surviving. It’s about being each other’s biggest champion, always. Lastly, approach joint responsibilities, like finances, as a team. Discussing and planning together reinforces your shared future and commitment. Ultimately, choosing love isn't just a romantic ideal; it's a powerful, practical strategy for building a resilient, stable, and deeply fulfilling marriage, no matter what 'unforeseen circumstances' life throws your way.

Well, honestly, we have to marry that person who will give us both economic and emotional stability. There has to be love, because otherwise unhappiness is very sad. I could have all the money in the world, but if I'm not happy, I'd rather leave.
