Am I a terrible partner?

When I got engaged, I didn’t cry. I wasn’t overwhelmed. I was happy, but it wasn’t this dramatic movie moment. I felt almost guilty because I thought something was wrong with me.

Everyone was annoyed at me because I didn’t cry, while my husband was fully tearing up. I promise it was one of the happiest days of my life. I’m just not an emotional person 😭

But the truth is, everyone reacts differently. Not crying doesn’t mean I wasn’t happy or excited. It just means my emotions don’t show out as much as others do.

... Read moreEngagements are one of the most memorable milestones in life, but the way people react emotionally can vary greatly. It’s common to expect tears or overwhelming emotion during the moment of getting engaged, but as shown by many, including the author’s experience, not everyone expresses happiness through crying. The OCR content from the images, "He cried,1didn't Fcal," reflects a common dynamic in many relationships during engagement announcements—one partner may openly display tears, while the other might not show visible emotion. This contrast doesn’t indicate a lack of joy or excitement but rather highlights how emotional responses can be deeply personal and diverse. Some people feel an internal sense of happiness that doesn’t manifest outwardly. For others, tears come naturally when overwhelmed by love and happiness. Both reactions are valid and normal. Feeling pressured to cry or display emotion because it’s expected culturally or socially can cause unnecessary guilt or confusion. Understanding these differences can help ease concerns if you don’t react “as expected” during significant life events. Emotional expressions range from quiet smiles and calm joy to loud laughter or heartfelt tears. Recognizing your unique way of experiencing emotions can lead to a more authentic and comfortable celebration. Moreover, it’s important to communicate with your partner about these feelings and reactions. Embracing and respecting each other's emotional styles strengthens the bond and makes shared moments more meaningful. In conclusion, whether you cried or not when you got engaged, what truly matters is the happiness and commitment behind the gesture. Your personal emotional expression is a reflection of your individuality, not a measure of your love or joy.

I cried during my engagement but I got married in August and I didn’t cry during the ceremony but once my brothers gave a speech that’s when I finally teared up and my husband was basically crying the whole day of our wedding maybe he regrets it 😂 jk! But I was a lot more worried about how the day would go so I thought maybe that’s why I didn’t cry
