Is a 5 month engagement too short?

I was only engaged for five months, and the amount of commentary that came with that still blows my mind. Everyone kept saying we were “rushing,” like there was some timeline we were supposed to follow. What really bothered me was how confident people were in their opinions about my life, my relationship, and my choices most of them based on nothing but their own projections. It felt less like concern and more like judgment than advice.

What annoyed me the most was the quiet assumption that I must be pregnant, because apparently that’s the only explanation people could come up with for moving quickly. No one actually asked me anything… they just filled in the blanks themselves.
