How do I get ridof the redness?
When I was younger, I used to break out on my forehead a lot but now that I’m in my late 20s I seem to break out on my cheeks.. when I’m not breaking out, I just have a lot of redness and spots.
What product should I use? Lately? I’ve just been using retinol on it at night! #skincareinsider #askderm #lemon8challenge
Dealing with facial redness and breakouts can be challenging, especially as your skin changes over time. From my personal experience, one key factor that helped reduce redness was establishing a consistent skincare routine tailored to sensitive, oily skin. Retinol is a powerful ingredient for cell turnover and acne control, but it can sometimes cause irritation and initial redness if not introduced carefully. To minimize this, I started using a gentle cleanser and a nourishing moisturizer designed for sensitive skin to build a protective skin barrier. Introducing retinol gradually, such as twice a week at first, allowed my skin to adjust without excessive inflammation. I also learned that avoiding harsh scrubs or abrasive treatments was crucial to prevent worsening redness. In addition to retinol, incorporating soothing ingredients like niacinamide and aloe vera helped calm redness and even out skin tone. Regular use of broad-spectrum sunscreen each morning was essential since retinol increases sun sensitivity, and sun exposure can exacerbate redness. Lifestyle factors also influenced my skin’s health. Staying hydrated, managing stress, and maintaining a balanced diet rich in antioxidants supported my skin’s healing process. For persistent redness, consulting a dermatologist proved valuable; they can recommend tailored treatments such as professional chemical peels or laser therapy if needed. Remember, everyone’s skin is unique. The key is patience and carefully observing how your skin responds to different products. Hi love! Derm NP Jinel here. 🫶🏼 Redness after acne cysts is common. It’s called Post Inflammatory Erythema. You can start using Azelaic Acid on your face daily to help. I would recommend Anua 10% Azelaic Acid Serum. Also, if you’re using retinol make sure you’re moisturizing. If the skin barrier is dry it can cause irritation and redness as well. Hope this helps! Not medical advice.
