I had to stop by Shake Shack to try some of their new menu items, and overall, I was surprised!
I ordered the Mac & Cheese (added bacon), which is cavatappi pasta in a creamy cheddar and American cheese sauce and topped with toasted breadcrumbs. The flavor was there, but the cheese sauce was much thicker than I expected. A few bites in, it started feeling pretty heavy, but if you’re a mac & cheese lover, you’ll probably enjoy how cheesy it is.
I also tried the Chocolate Toasted Marshmallow S’mores Shake. It’s made with vanilla frozen custard blended with toasted marshmallow and dark chocolate ganache, then topped with whipped cream and s’mores graham cracker crunch. The s’mores flavor was spot on, and I loved the graham cracker topping, but it was a little too sweet for my taste. By the end, I definitely needed some water!

Read moreWhen I decided to try Shake Shack's new menu items, I was especially curious about how traditional favorites like mac & cheese would be reinvented alongside innovative shakes like the Chocolate Toasted Marshmallow S’mores Shake. The mac & cheese features cavatappi pasta smothered in a blend of cheddar and American cheese sauce, topped with toasted breadcrumbs for extra crunch. Having added bacon, I found the smoky, savory notes complemented the richness well, although the cheese sauce's thickness might be too much for some. It really depends on your preference for dense, creamy comfort food—something I tend to enjoy in moderation due to its heaviness.
The Chocolate Toasted Marshmallow S’mores Shake offers a creative twist on the classic campfire treat by using vanilla frozen custard mixed with toasted marshmallow and dark chocolate ganache. The whipped cream topping with graham cracker crunch adds texture and authentic s’mores flavor. However, it leans quite sweet, so those sensitive to sugary drinks might want to share or pair it with water. The calorie counts are noteworthy too—the mac & cheese comes in at around 1110 calories, while the shake is approximately 620 calories, so these are indulgent choices best savored occasionally.
From my experience, both items highlight Shake Shack’s willingness to experiment with new flavor combinations and elevate traditional comfort foods. The mac & cheese is a pleasant comfort dish for cheese lovers, but if you prefer lighter fare, it might feel too heavy. The s’mores shake is fun and flavorful, perfect for a summer treat if you don’t mind the sweetness. Overall, these new menu options add interesting variety to the Shake Shack lineup, making visits feel fresh and exciting. If you enjoy rich, cheesy pasta or decadent dessert shakes, I recommend giving these new items a try while keeping moderation in mind due to their richness and calorie content.
