In the last year, my life has changed pretty drastically between both my mental and physical health. I received some diagnosis that, while it is nice to have an answer, have caused me to have to make big changes in how I live each day. I’ve spent a lot of time feeling really alone in this journey, and I thought maybe I could help others not feel so alone 💜 so I thought that I could make weekly updates with my progress, coping skills, and struggles that get me through my challenges with bipolar, lupus, epilepsy, fibromyalgia, and trauma 💜 if you feel like you’re walking alone, I’ll walk with you 💜#fibromyalgiafighter💜#lupuswarrior🦋💜#journeyofselfdiscovery#mentalhealthawareness❤️#bipolarawareness#chronicillnessjourney#embracevulnerability

When I received my diagnoses of bipolar, lupus, epilepsy, fibromyalgia, and trauma, my world shifted dramatically. It was like a puzzle with missing pieces, and I spent a lot of time feeling lost, staring at my own thoughtful expression in the mirror, wondering how to move forward.
"Color Locking" Your Mental & Emotional Well-being
One of the most profound shifts for me has been learning how to proactively 'color lock' my mental and emotional well-being. This isn't about ignoring feelings, but rather about establishing practices that help maintain stability despite the unpredictable nature of chronic conditions. For me, this means carefully managing my routines, much like how we plan our daily life amidst challenges. I've learned to recognize my triggers and create a sanctuary, whether it's a quiet corner for reflection or a mindful moment spent journaling. It's about setting boundaries, knowing when to rest, and being kind to myself on days when my energy is low. Like a pixelated heart tattoo, these small, intentional acts build up to form a stronger, more resilient self.
Finding "Watermelon" Moments: Small Joys & Refreshment
In the midst of serious health challenges, it’s easy to lose sight of joy. I call these my “watermelon moments” – finding simple, refreshing pleasures that bring a burst of lightness to my day. This could be anything from a quiet afternoon fishing by a pond, watching the green grass and rocks, and feeling the gentle tug on a fishing rod, to a silly moment of connection with a loved one, like the pure joy of a child happily leaning on you. It's about embracing those small pockets of peace and connection. Sometimes, it’s also literally about healthy choices; focusing on hydrating and nourishing my body with fresh foods, understanding how diet can impact my energy, much like a refreshing slice of watermelon on a hot day. These moments, no matter how small, are vital for replenishing my spirit and fostering a reflective mood.
Building "Lasting" Resilience & Support
The journey with chronic illness is a marathon, not a sprint. Building lasting resilience requires a strong support system and a commitment to self-compassion. I've found immense comfort in connecting with others who understand what it's like to live with these conditions. Whether it's through online communities or trusted friends and family, having someone to lean on, much like the support and connection seen in a shared moment, makes all the difference. It's about being vulnerable, reaching out when you need help, and allowing others to walk with you. These lasting connections, combined with consistent self-care and professional support, are the bedrock of enduring strength. My own journey of self-discovery, captured in my thoughtful expressions or even the details of my appearance like curly hair, freckles, or a nose ring, is a testament to the ongoing process of adapting and growing. I'm learning to embrace vulnerability and share my experiences, hoping that by doing so, others won't feel so alone in their own health journey.
Love this post💛 Can’t wait to see more of your daily moments🤩
