... Read moreParticipating in a National Day of Action is a powerful way to show solidarity with communities affected by oppressive policies and actions, such as those enforced by ICE. While striking—refusing to work, attend school, or shop—is one of the most visible forms of protest, not everyone can safely or practically take that step. However, there are many ways to get involved and contribute to the cause. One effective approach is raising awareness within your own networks by sharing posts, organizing virtual events, or hosting discussion groups. These activities help educate others about the impact of fascist policies and immigrant detention practices, fostering a stronger, informed community. Additionally, supporting organizations like the Dolores Huerta Foundation can amplify efforts by providing resources and advocacy campaigns focused on immigrant rights. Volunteering your time with local immigrant aid groups, donating to legal defense funds, or participating in peaceful demonstrations also makes a significant difference. Even writing to elected officials to demand policy change sends a clear message that the community values justice and human rights. Reflecting on my personal experience during past National Days of Action, I found that small actions collectively drive broader social change. Engaging with others who are passionate about these issues creates a sense of empowerment and community resilience. It's important to recognize that meaningful activism isn't always about large-scale events but consistent, everyday efforts that challenge injustice and support those affected. No matter your capacity, taking action—whether large or small—contributes to ending fascism and stop ICE violence. Everyone has a role to play, and united voices create the momentum necessary for change.
