The Rain that Soothes
☀️ 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗻 ...
This morning began with sunshine and
warmth — the kind that wraps around you
like a favorite blanket. But now… it’s raining.
A soft, beautiful rain. The kind that doesn’t
steal the light, but somehow deepens it.
I’m loving the gentle rhythm of it — the way it soothes rather than disrupts. ☔️
“𝘿𝙤 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙧𝙮.”
Those are the words Jesus spoke in
Luke 12:22–34 — a passage I read this
morning as the rain fell.
I’ll be honest… that command is sometimes
easier said than done.
But if I’ve learned anything in my 66 years
of life, it’s this:
When my eyes, heart, and mind are fully
fixed on Him —
the worry begins to fade.
It doesn’t always leave instantly.
But it loses its grip.
The more I trust His care, the less I try
to control.
𝘚𝘰, 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘐 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘦
𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘎𝘰𝘥'𝘴 𝘒𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘥𝘰𝘮 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 ?
I think, for me, it starts with awareness —
noticing the subtle ways I let other things
creep into first place. Whether it’s worry, performance, productivity, or even good
things like helping others or managing a
home… if my heart isn’t first bowed before
Him, I begin to drift.
So, what needs to change?
➤ Less striving… more surrender.
➤ Less checking off boxes… more abiding.
➤ Less of me needing answers… more of me trusting His presence is enough.
To seek His Kingdom first, I have to be
willing to release control. To trade anxiety
for attentiveness. To wake up and ask,
“𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘺, 𝘓𝘰𝘳𝘥?"
—not just, “𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘐 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘦?”
It means letting the reign of Christ — not
just the name of Christ — shape every part
of my day.
Even my thoughts.
Even the things no one else sees.
And maybe… especially those things.
Someday, when I reach Heaven, I can’t wait
to meet my Lord face-to-face. To hear His
voice — not just in scripture, but in person.
I hope I’ll get to sit with His disciples too.
I’d love to listen to their stories firsthand.
I’d thank them for writing them down so we
could be changed by them all these
generations later.
Each of them reflects something I can
relate to…
But I especially want to meet Luke.
There’s something about his gospel —
the way he tells it.
He just seems like a really cool dude.

What helps you shift your focus back to
seeking His Kingdom first — especially when
worry creeps in?
Rain often serves as a reminder to pause and reflect. It calms our minds and nourishes our souls. In spiritual terms, this gentle rain symbolizes God's grace pouring over us, encouraging us to release our worries. Studies show that connecting with nature enhances mental well-being and reduces stress. When we intentionally shift our focus towards spirituality during challenging times, like a rainy day, we can deepen our understanding of faith. This teaches us that even in life's storms, we can find refuge and peace by seeking the Kingdom of God. In Luke 12:22-34, the teachings invite us to trust in God's provision. This biblical passage encourages believers to let go of anxieties and understand that focus on God's Kingdom brings clarity and purpose to our lives. This understanding has far-reaching implications, paving the way for emotional stability and fulfillment. Remember, every raindrop is a chance to reconnect with one's spirit, reminding us to seek divine guidance and stay anchored in faith when worries arise. Seek opportunities for prayer and reflection during such times, allowing the rain to wash away burdens and bring renewed focus.
