I woke up like this

🌧️☁️ “𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴…

𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗙𝗹𝗲𝘀𝗵”

Genesis ➤ John 1:1–14

Morning Devotional Reflection

It’s a damp, humid morning here in the mountains — the kind where the sun fights to break through the clouds, and the birds sing anyway.

I’m sipping from my mug that playfully declares,

"𝖨 𝖶𝗈𝗄𝖾 𝖴𝗉 𝖫𝗂𝗄𝖾 𝖳𝗁𝗂𝗌,”

but truthfully?

I woke up nourished.

Not by food. Not by sleep.

But by the Word.

This week, my reading of Genesis shifted from distant history to deep intimacy.

Instead of simply reading about creation, I found myself experiencing it — as if I’d been invited back into the garden… into the hush before the first sunrise… into the breath of God.

I saw how intentional He was — forming light before life, shaping man with His own hands, and placing boundaries not to restrict us, but to protect us.

And today, as I turn to John 1, the truth comes rushing in like mountain rain:

Jesus was always there.

In the beginning was the Word… and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The same Jesus who walked dusty roads and healed broken hearts…

was also the One who hovered over the waters, spoke stars into being, and whispered the first “let there be.”

Genesis showed me divine design — a world formed by love.

But John?

John reminds me that this same Creator stepped into His creation to redeem what we had lost.

He didn’t stay distant.

He became flesh — and moved into the neighborhood.

Just as the rain here nourishes the earth,

Jesus nourishes the soul.

Just as water soaks into the roots,

His presence sinks into my weary places.

And the only question I hear Him asking this morning is:

“𝘞𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘔𝘦 𝘪𝘯?"

Not just into your schedule or Sunday mornings

— but into the deep parts.

The hidden hurts.

The worn-out places that are still waiting

to be restored.

Genesis isn’t just the start of a book.

It’s the beginning of a love story.

And I’m part of it.

The book of Genesis, often seen as mere history, reveals layers of intimate connection as it narrates the creation story. This reflection encourages readers to immerse themselves in the biblical narrative, observing God's intentional design in forming light, life, and humanity. John 1 further deepens our understanding of the divine, emphasizing the tangible presence of Jesus in our lives. By recognizing that Jesus is not just a historical figure but an inviting presence, believers can find restoration and nourishment for their weary souls. Morning devotion can also illuminate the importance of inviting God into our daily routines, not simply for Sunday worship but into the deeper, hidden areas of our lives that await healing. Through engaging with scripture, individuals can rejuvenate their spirit and cultivate a daily habit of seeking connection with God.
