📖 Acts 16:11–15 + Luke 6:35
I didn’t plan this.
Two completely different devotionals — one in a book, one in an app — both started at different times. Yet today, they seemed to have a conversation with each other… and with me.
One spoke of Lydia, who opened not only her heart but her home to Paul and his companions. She used her resources, her influence, and her hospitality to advance the gospel.
The other told the story of a twelve-year-old boy in Soviet Russia who brought flowers to the wife of the officer who had imprisoned his parents — because his mother taught him to love his enemies.
Different centuries.
Different cultures.
Same message:
The sincerity of a heart transformed by Christ is more powerful than eloquence, defense, or retaliation.
It made me pause and think about my own life — about remaining kind to people who may not think I’m “their cup of tea.”
• Friends who once humiliated me publicly.
• Colleagues who tried to destroy my reputation.
• People whose words or actions have left deep marks and could have hardened my heart.
I’m not patting myself on the back.
This isn’t natural strength.
This is only God’s hand — His miraculous presence enabling me to stay when I could have walked away, to be cordial when I could have been cold, to choose peace when I could have chosen payback.
Maybe that’s why the mountain breeze felt extra tender this morning — cicadas singing their steady song (𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥?), birds chiming in, a sky painted blue. Peace all around, and peace within.
Because when God transforms the heart, He writes a different ending to the story.
🤍 Lord, make my heart sincere — not just in word, but in the way I love, even when it costs me.
