Yellow Roses
🌼 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗲𝘀

Some stories touch your heart so deeply, you almost have to catch your breath before you share them.
When my daughter and I booked an Airbnb in Clarksville, Tennessee for Thanksgiving week, we expected a place to sleep, a little room for Macy, and a space to gather as a family. Nothing more.
But God had a very different plan — wrapped in kindness from complete strangers.
Months ago, when I first reached out to the owners, I let them know we’d be bringing our two little dogs, Molly and Macy. After Molly passed away on August 25th, I updated them that only Macy would be coming. I wasn’t asking for anything… just being transparent.
But Austin, the owner, responded with compassion — saying how sorry they were, and then quietly waiving the extra pet fee. I had no idea there even was one. He just wanted to bless us.
That alone moved me.
But when we arrived yesterday…
the kindness flowed in ways I never expected.
The moment we walked in, the home felt prepared.
Decor that whispered peace.
A sign that read, “𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙤 𝙩𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙗𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙩 𝙖 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙙,” framed with two crosses, a heart.
And Macramé plants.
A basket of snacks for the kids.
Cupboards with food — “𝘏𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘴."
Organic eggs from their own chickens.
But the part that nearly undid me…
𝑇ℎ𝑟𝑒𝑒 𝑙𝑜𝑛𝑔-𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑚 𝑦𝑒𝑙𝑙𝑜𝑤 𝑟𝑜𝑠𝑒𝑠.
𝐵𝑒𝑎𝑢𝑡𝑖𝑓𝑢𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑤𝑟𝑎𝑝𝑝𝑒𝑑.
𝐷𝑒𝑙𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑙𝑦 𝑎𝑟𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑒𝑑 𝑖𝑛 𝑎 𝑔𝑙𝑎𝑠𝑠 𝑣𝑎𝑠𝑒

At first, I assumed they were decorative.
But when I thanked Austin for everything,
he replied:

𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭."
I just about lost it.
These people have never met us.
They don’t know our story.
We had never stayed here before.
And yet—they saw our grief and wrapped us in tenderness.
And as we walked through their home,
we noticed something else:
The crosses…
The Scripture touches…
The warmth that felt familiar…
You know when your spirit just recognizes someone else’s?
That quiet Oh… they’re family?
That’s exactly how it felt.
Kindness from strangers —
except not strangers at all.
Brothers and sisters in Christ
who loved like Jesus
without knowing a thing about us.
And this morning, when the hot water heater went out, Austin came right over, replaced the entire unit, apologized like he had inconvenienced us (he hadn’t), and then showed up with a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts for the whole crew.
In less than 24 hours, they have shown a kind of hospitality we will never forget.
And I truly believe God will bless them for it — pressed down, shaken together, and running over. The way they’ve poured out His love on us, I pray He pours it back over them in every season they have need.
Those yellow roses weren’t just flowers.
They were God’s reminder that even in places we’ve never been,
among people we’ve never met,
His love still finds us —
often through the hands of a stranger who isn’t a stranger at all 🥹
Clarksville has already given us a Thanksgiving memory we’ll cherish forever.
