can your skin type change when you move?

I recently moved from a very very dry part of the world to a very very humid and moist part of the world. I've noticed changes in my skin, to the point where I've had to change my skincare routine.

my new routine is effective, but is this a permanent thing or temporary side effect?

🏠BEFORE MOVING: my skin has always been pretty sensitive, but here my skin was slightly dry and I pretty much never broke out other than hormonal acne.

🧴previous routine:

- wash using cereve hyaluronic acid face wash

- moisturize using the pictured item

- exfoliate every now and then

- skipping my routine not a big deal

🏠AFTER MOVING: still with sensitive skin, and my face (esp t-zone) are oily often. I broke out like crazy my first few weeks here but now I've figured out a better routine for myself so it's not so extreme.

🧴current routine:

- wash using SA wash, to target oiliness

- moisturize using the same moisturizer

- exfoliate more often

- cannot skip my routine or I'll break out

... Read moreMoving to a new climate can indeed alter your skin's behavior. Humid environments can increase oil production, especially in individuals with sensitive skin, leading to unexpected breakouts. Factors like humidity levels, temperature, and even air quality can play significant roles in how our skin responds. In your previous dry environment, your skin may have thrived on hydration-focused products. However, in humid climates, the skin may struggle with excess oil, which calls for adjustments in routine. For those experiencing similar changes, consider incorporating lighter moisturizers and effective cleansers targeting oiliness while still being gentle on sensitive skin. Additionally, understanding your skin's reactions to new climates is vital. It might take several weeks for your skin to adjust fully, so patience is key. Consulting with dermatologists can provide personalized recommendations tailored to the specific environmental factors in your new location. Finding the right balance in your skincare routine can help maintain optimal skin health, regardless of climate changes.
