What I Wish I Knew Before Growing Tomatoes

🪴tomatoes get BIG! You can grow containers in pots, but 15 gallon or more is recommended for indeterminate types. Determinate types can do well in a 10 gallon, but of course the more soil the better the yield!

⛓️plan your support system! There are plenty of resources online for how to make your own trellis, either from string or PVC pipe. I am in my first year, so I’m just using what I find at thrift stores or yard sales and hoping for the best.

🍅if you know where to trim correctly, you can effectively clone your tomato plants. (I’ll be making another post about this in the future…) This is great because you get all the traits of the plant you love, without starting from seed! A fantastic way to succession plant for tomatoes throughout the seasons.

🙂‍↔️once you realize how well tomatoes grow, you will only want more varieties to taste! Great for salsas, sauces, broths, sauté, canning, you name it. There are so many uses and you’ll only want more.

Additional Tips:
