Hello Lemon8! i saw some of my followers were trying to follow me on here, so I mad an account to maybe use this as a platform for when tiktok falls? We’ll have to see idk idk idk.
I haven’t made much personal art, but I was rather proud of my collage assignment! Technically, I was supposed to focus on form and not subject matter or subjects for this, but I was so goddamn bored doing anything that wasn’t photo montage. All of these either pulled from very strong emotions or are meant to represent an aspect of my life, but I wont get into detail on that methinks. All photos that have a little brown sticker have titles and the others that don’t are literally untitled.
... Read moreYou know, when I first started my color theory assignments, I honestly thought it would be all about strict rules and boring color wheels. But what I discovered with mixed media collages completely changed my perspective! It became this incredible outlet for expressing emotions, much like with my 'last color theory assignment' where I really poured my heart into each piece. It's not just about understanding hues; it's about making them feel something, creating a visual narrative that resonates deeply with you and, hopefully, with others.
If you're looking to dive into the world of creative art, especially with 'paint collage ideas' or unique designs, mixed media is a game-changer. Forget just painting; think about layering different textures and materials to build a story. For my collages, I used everything from paper scraps and metallic strips to old photographs and even incorporated found text elements, much like you might see in a museum exhibit description. This layering creates incredible depth and allows for 'abstract figures' or a 'layered face-like shape' to emerge, giving your art a truly 'unique creative color wheel design' feel, even if it's not a literal wheel. It's about the interplay of colors, shapes, and textures creating a harmonious (or deliberately discordant) whole.
One of my favorite parts was experimenting with how colors evoke feelings. For example, in a piece like 'boss battle,' I might use stark contrasts, intense reds, and jagged lines to convey tension or conflict. Or for something more reflective and personal, like my 'homage' or 'giving you your flowers' collages, I'd lean into softer pastels, warm harmonious blends, and organic shapes. It’s amazing how a dominant blue section paired with a vibrant red can create a totally different mood than, say, the tranquil greens and browns I used for my 'Colorful Desert Wildflowers California Arizona' piece, which brought a sense of calm and natural beauty. Each color choice is a brushstroke in itself, building the emotional landscape of the artwork.
To get started on your own 'color theory collage' journey, don't overthink it. My advice? Gather a diverse collection of materials – old magazines, fabric swatches, discarded packaging, natural elements, even some 'pink paint drips' if you're feeling adventurous! Think about a theme or an emotion you want to explore. Maybe it's a feeling of longing, like in my 'i miss you' collage, or a celebration of an artist, like 'Solange,' expressed through vibrant colors and dynamic compositions. You don't need a formal 'color wheel design' to start; just let the colors and textures guide you. Sometimes, a simple 'concentric circle design' can be incredibly powerful in conveying a central idea, or the inclusion of 'circuit board elements' can hint at complexity and modernity.
I found that allowing myself to be playful and not striving for perfection was key. Some of my most impactful pieces, like 'Whitest Gallery' or the one incorporating stark phrases like 'We were never meant to Survive,' came from just letting loose and seeing what emerged from the subconscious. Each collage becomes a visual diary, a snapshot of feelings or ideas, a personal narrative brought to life through mixed media. So, if you're feeling stuck or just want a new, expressive way to create 'art,' give mixed media collages a try. You might surprise yourself with the unique stories, vibrant emotions, and compelling designs you can bring to life!
