Hebrews 11:1
Hey everyone! I've been spending a lot of time lately meditating on one of my favorite Bible verses, Hebrews 11:1. It says, 'Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.' This verse is truly a cornerstone for understanding what it means to walk with God, and I wanted to share my personal journey with it. For a long time, I think I viewed faith as just a feeling, a vague hope that things would turn out okay. But this verse completely reframes it. When it says 'faith is the substance of things hoped for,' it's telling us that faith isn’t just wishing; it’s giving substance to our hopes. It's like building the foundation for something that isn't physically there yet. Imagine you're hoping for a new job or a difficult situation to resolve. Faith isn't just passively waiting; it's actively believing so strongly that it feels real, even before you see any tangible results. It's the conviction that what God has promised or put in your heart will come to pass. Through some challenging times, holding onto this idea has been incredibly powerful for me. It shifts my perspective from 'I wish' to 'I know that God is working.' Then there's the second part: 'the evidence of things not seen.' This one really speaks to the heart of trust. How do you have evidence for something you can't see? It's not about physical proof; it's an internal conviction, a spiritual certainty. It's the assurance that even when circumstances look bleak or when there's no visible way forward, God is still sovereign, and His plan is unfolding. For me, this has manifested in trusting God with future plans that seemed impossible, or believing for healing when doctors offered little hope. It's about looking beyond the temporary and fixing your gaze on the eternal truth of God's character and His promises. It’s like having an internal radar that confirms the reality of God's presence and power, even when all your senses say otherwise. This verse ties so perfectly into the idea of #trust and #knowthatgodsgotyou. When you truly grasp that faith is both the substance and the evidence, it naturally leads to a deeper trust. You're not just hoping God has your back; you know it with a profound certainty that allows you to step out in courage. It’s been a game-changer in how I approach challenges. Instead of letting fear or doubt take over, I can lean into the conviction that God is actively working behind the scenes, preparing the way, even when I can't see a single step ahead. It’s a peace that truly surpasses understanding. So, if you're struggling with understanding faith or feeling like your hope is wavering, I encourage you to spend some time with Hebrews 11:1. Ask yourself: What am I truly hoping for? And am I allowing faith to give substance to that hope? Am I looking for the evidence of God's presence, not just with my eyes, but with my spirit? It's a journey, but embracing this verse has certainly deepened my walk and strengthened my belief that no matter what, God's got me. And He's got you too!
