4th of July Hot Girl Hike š
Phewwww 4th of July weekend was dummy hot in the northern Bay area but wow it was breathtaking!! I'm a pretty novice hiker but this wasn't too bad, we drove to each spot and walked around. It was so busy that day but thankfully we missed most of the rush. We didn't get to go down to the lighthouse since it was sooo busy and foggy. š„¾š
Things I learned from my hike:
š walk around you'll never know what you'll find - we didnt even see that seal at first and then we thought it was dead but eventually he started snoring and scratching himself, it was so cool!
šBRING SNACKS AND WATER!!! - esp in drier heat, it's hard to really tell when you're exhausted or dehydrated!! avoid heat stroke/exhaustion
š apply (&reapply) sunscreen - i thought it was going to be pretty chilly that day so i didn't apply sunscreen on my arms and back...BIG MISTAKE! I got so sunburnt šš
š life is passing by while you're on your phone - people are so caught up in capturing the moment and posting on socials, they miss the little things! I got to share a beautiful moment with strangers on the trail that I probably would've missed otherwise. Their little boy saw a little rodent peak its head out of a hole and he got to feed it a capful of water. SO PRECIOUS! I hate to think about the moments I miss when I'm on my phone but I love cherishing the ones I don't miss out on ā£ļøā£ļø

Taking on a 'hot girl hike' isn't just about looking good; it's about feeling amazing, being prepared, and truly experiencing the journey. My recent 4th of July adventure in the Northern Bay Area taught me a ton, and I want to share some extra tips to make your next coastal trek unforgettable and safe. First off, hydration and snacks are absolutely crucial, especially in drier climates like parts of California. My personal go-to for a 'hot girl hike' means a cute but functional hydration pack, not just a small water bottle. Think electrolyte tablets too! For snacks, I love packing things that are easy to eat on the go and won't melt, like trail mix, energy bars, or even some fresh fruit. It keeps your energy up and prevents that 'hangry' feeling from creeping in. Next, let's talk sun protection. I learned the hard way about reapplying sunscreen, especially on exposed areas like arms and the back of the neck. Beyond SPF, a wide-brimmed hat (a cute one, of course!) and sunglasses are your best friends. Light, breathable layers are also key. I prefer moisture-wicking fabrics that keep me cool and dry, even if it gets a bit foggy, as it often does near the coast, like when we were exploring Inverness and trying to get to the lighthouse. You might start chilly, but hiking warms you up fast! For a truly 'hot girl irl' hiking experience, embracing the unexpected is everything. We didn't plan on seeing a seal, nor did we anticipate stumbling upon fascinating animal bones or an old shipwreck. These are the moments that make a hike memorable. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlifeāwe were even hoping for some whale watching near the cliffs! A small pair of binoculars can enhance these discoveries without pulling you away from the moment. Finally, remember to be present. It's so easy to get caught up trying to capture every moment for social media, but some of the most beautiful experiences are meant to be cherished offline. I loved sharing a quiet moment with strangers, watching a little boy feed a rodent water. Those small, genuine interactions and observations are what hiking is truly about. Before you head out, share your itinerary with someone you trust, and consider downloading offline maps. Cell service can be spotty in remote coastal areas. And don't forget a small first-aid kit, just in case of minor scrapes or blisters. Happy hot girl hiking!
