27 海鲜 Seafood at Petanak Market

One of our best finds in Kuching ❤️

We chanced upon No. Petanak Market Food Stalls Central Market, and it instantly brought back so many childhood memories. No fancy presentation, no modern fusion—just honest, comforting home-style dishes cooked with so much flavour. It reminded me of the meals I grew up eating, and every bite felt so nostalgic.

It was so good that we came back twice during our trip! 😍

... Read moreDuring my visit to Kuching, finding No. 27 海鲜 Seafood Stall at Petanak Market was truly a highlight. The charm here is in its simplicity—no fancy plating or fusion twists, just pure and honest flavors reminiscent of home-cooked meals. The Double Cooked Fish stood out with its rich, layered flavors achieved through multiple stages of cooking that create a tender yet flavorful dish. Pairing this with the Rice Wine Kampung Chicken provided a perfect balance—fragrant and mildly sweet with a comforting warmth. One dish that really captivated me was the Pig Stomach Chicken Soup, a traditional hearty broth packed with nutrition and depth, making it ideal for anyone seeking authentic Sarawakian cuisine. The Bitter Gourd with Egg was a delightful vegetable side, offering a slightly bitter contrast to the other rich dishes. The Deep Fried Meat with Salted Fish added a crispy texture and savory dimension that kept me coming back for more. I also enjoyed Pineapple Intestines and Kai Lan Kong Bak, which introduced me to unique local ingredients and flavors. Every bite felt like a nostalgic journey back to childhood meals, highlighting the beauty of humble, heartfelt cooking. Visiting twice during my trip shows how much this stall impressed me and why it deserves a spot on every food lover’s itinerary when in Kuching. What makes No. 27 especially special is how it preserves the traditional taste of Sarawak's seafood and local delicacies without any gimmicks, truly delivering comfort food that tells a story. If you’re exploring Kuching’s street food scene, this stall is a must-visit to experience genuine flavors and warm hospitality.
