Summer Camp for Slasher Victims
I think I might be done with slashers for a bit after this one because I was bored more than I was scared. I guessed the killer unfortunately early on and then just sat there waiting for the reveal only for it to lack any substance.
It starts with an 18 year old driving to be a counselor at a summer camp for kids who have gone through something traumatic. Something pops her tire and then she's stranded at a gas station with no way to call the camp, home or anyone.
Then we get our main character introductions that are all just final girls/guys. This was a fun game of placing who each character survived, a better slasher fan would be able to identify more.
We don't get our first slash until 60% of the way through. Which would be great if the reveal was better.
I talked to my boyfriend's brother who loves Matthew Mercer and critical role and he told me "Matthew was trying to write a bad slasher" which doesn't sound right because it feels like an Ernest attempt.
I gave it ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars because the idea was cool I just can't handle how it was written.
