So someone sent this in the group chat so I had to find the best reads for the challenge! Honestly I had fun with my answers and now I want to know yours!
Scream With Me Horror Films and The Rise Of American Feminism (1968-1980) by Eleanor Johnson is a book that is sitting on my TBR waiting for Christmas because I have been told not to buy it yet. This book is all about how horror films reflect on real life political movements and was inspired by the Author's experience as a professor during the overturning of Roe V. Wade, where her students started connecting the movie to what was happening currently. Honestly if I saw someone reading this on the beach I would think they were a cool horror fan.
Les Miserables by Victor Hugo is about the a man who stole a loaf of bread and has been hunted continuously since. It deals with poverty and political interests. I would be intimidated if someone was reading this. Especially if it was one of the French/ English hardcover copies that has both versions. Those suckers are thick.
Death by Bikini by Linda Gerber is one of those hidden gems I read in Middle school and loved. A girl has spent her whole life living on a private island resort. One day a family shows up bringing her the hottest boy she's ever seen. The next day a girl washes up strangled by her own Bikini. And our main character has to solve the mystery before she washes up too. This book was pretty thick and a lot of fun. If I saw someone reading this and taking notes I might think they are planning something.
Bride by Ali Hazelwood is about a Vampyre and Werewolf having to get married to keep the alliance between the species. The main girl gives Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Ravenway and I'm sorry to bring that up. 💔💔💔 If I saw someone reading this on the beach I know they aren't afraid to get Knotty in public. Which scares me.
