The huskies are the best part
I impulse read a book not on my TBR and I don't regret it. I saw it was an audiobook on KindleUnlimited and had to listen to it.
Snowed in by Navessa Allen is about a woman and a man who meet on a mountain in middle of no where Maine.
We start with Ella, a small town girl who has two huskies. We see her drop off her niece and then visit her family friend. When visiting her family friend she meets legendary football player, Benjamin Kakoa, he's been using the mountain as a place to hide to deal with his grief after his brother and his family pass away.
This is a romance about grief, acceptance and dogs.

I honestly picked up 'Snowed In' by Navessa Allen on a whim, seeing it pop up on Kindle Unlimited, and I'm so glad I did! It's one of those books that just pulls you in from the first page and doesn't let go. While the original title hinted at the huskies being a highlight, this story offers so much more, delving into profound emotional depth that truly resonated with me. What truly struck me about 'Snowed In' was how gracefully Navessa Allen handles heavy themes like grief and acceptance within a romance narrative. It’s not just a fluffy love story; it’s about two people, Ella and Benjamin, finding solace and a second chance at happiness after significant loss. Benjamin, a former legendary football player, is hiding away on a mountain, grappling with unimaginable grief. Ella, with her small-town charm and unwavering spirit, shows him a path forward, proving that healing isn't about forgetting, but about incorporating past pain into a new future. I felt a real connection to their journey, watching them navigate complicated emotions and slowly open up to each other. The snowy Maine mountain setting is absolutely perfect for this story, making it a fantastic 'winter pick.' The isolation of the location really emphasizes the intimacy developing between Ella and Benjamin, forcing them to confront their feelings without outside distractions. It created such a cozy yet poignant atmosphere that made me want to curl up with a blanket and a warm drink while reading. The detailed descriptions of the snow-covered landscape just added another layer to the emotional journey, mirroring the characters' internal struggles and eventual thawing. And yes, let's talk about the huskies! Ella's two loyal huskies aren't just background characters; they are integral to her life and even play a role in easing Benjamin's solitude. Their presence adds such a heartwarming and authentic touch to the narrative. They bring moments of much-needed levity and comfort, reminding us that sometimes, unconditional love comes from our furry friends. Their antics and loyalty truly made me smile and cemented why they are such a beloved part of the story. This isn't just a 'small town romance'; it's a story enriched by the simple, profound bonds we share with animals. Overall, 'Snowed In' earned a solid 4-star rating from me. It's a beautifully written book that balances romance, emotional depth, and even a touch of coziness. If you're looking for a heartfelt romance that tackles themes of grief and acceptance with genuine care, and especially if you appreciate canine companions in your stories, then I highly recommend checking out 'Snowed In' by Navessa Allen. It's readily available on Kindle Unlimited, whether you prefer to read or listen to the audiobook!
