How I saved $175.66 on books

So reading is unfortunately an expensive Hobby. I read 13 books and saved $175. I put my math above so you can see.

If you are a reader who reads a ton but on a budget I can't recommend the library or Libby enough. My favorite part is supporting my community and still getting to read books. Kindle Unlimited is just extra on there so I can read books my library won't get.

What are your money saving tips?

... Read moreReading can be a costly hobby, but with a strategic approach, you can enjoy numerous books without breaking the bank. Based on my recent savings of $175.66 on 13 books, I want to share some practical and budget-friendly tips that can help fellow book lovers maximize their reading without overspending. One of the best resources for affordable reading is your local library. Not only does it support your community, but it also provides free access to thousands of books. Many libraries now offer digital services such as Libby, an app that allows you to borrow ebooks and audiobooks right from your phone or tablet. Through Libby, I was able to access popular titles like Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" and R.F. Kuang's "Babel" without paying a dime. This service is ideal for avid readers looking to save money and still enjoy the latest books. Kindle Unlimited complements the library by offering a vast selection of titles not always available in your local branches. For instance, shorter works like Brynn Weaver's "Love And Other" and Navessa Allen's "Snowed In" were accessible through this subscription, helping expand my reading options for a small monthly fee. Combining both library apps and Kindle Unlimited can fill the gaps in your reading list while remaining budget-conscious. Additionally, tracking your savings can be motivating. I kept a simple record of the retail prices for each book I borrowed or read digitally — this helped me realize that my total savings were over $175. This approach encourages mindful reading choices and can be particularly helpful during holidays or sales seasons. Don't forget to explore free or discounted ebooks offered by authors and publishers on platforms like Amazon or through community reading challenges. Websites and forums such as #budgetbookworm and #cheapbookfinds also share tips and deals regularly. Overall, reading richly doesn’t have to mean spending heavily. Utilizing your library, leveraging digital borrowing apps like Libby, subscribing smartly to Kindle Unlimited, and engaging with online budget reading communities will help you enjoy more books while significantly saving money. What money-saving strategies do you use for your reading habit? Sharing tips strengthens our community and helps all readers thrive on a budget.
