Things do in Washington, DC as a College Student
As a college student, I’m always looking for things to do in my area to escape the books for a little bit! Here are some of my favorite places to go to do just that! Others include taking a walk on M street to shop, grabbing a bagel at Call Your Mother, and exploring the many museums of DC! #lemon8partner #lemon8college #washington #college #thingstodowithfriends
Living as a college student in a vibrant city like Washington D.C. means endless opportunities for adventure, even on a tight budget. Beyond the classroom, I’ve found so many incredible ways to explore, unwind, and make lasting memories without breaking the bank. If you're looking for practical, fun, and often free things to do amidst your studies, I'm excited to share some of my top recommendations. First up, you absolutely can't miss immersing yourself in the rich history and culture of the National Mall. It's not just a vast green space; it's home to some of the world's best museums, all free to enter! I love spending an afternoon wandering through the Smithsonian museums; it's like a free history lesson and art gallery all in one. And of course, you have to Visit the Monument! Even if you don't go inside, taking a stroll around the Washington Monument and reflecting pools is a quintessential DC experience, perfect for photos and fresh air. Another must-do is to Visit Georgetown! I adore the historic charm of this neighborhood. Taking a walk on M Street offers fantastic window shopping, unique boutiques, and charming cafes. It’s a great place to people-watch or grab a coffee with friends. The architecture is stunning, and it feels like stepping into a different era. I often find myself getting lost in its beautiful side streets. When I need a break from the city bustle, Take a walk by the canal! The C&O Canal Towpath provides a peaceful escape, especially during sunset. It’s incredibly scenic, and the quiet atmosphere makes it perfect for clearing your head or enjoying a leisurely chat. It's a hidden gem for anyone looking for a bit of nature amidst the urban landscape. For an exhilarating experience, I highly recommend checking out a sports event. Go to a Caps game! The energy at a Capitals game is electric! Even if you're not a huge hockey fan, it’s an incredible experience to share with friends. Look out for student rush tickets or special deals – often you can get a great seat for a fraction of the price. The roar of the crowd is something you won't forget! And let's talk food! You absolutely have to try a bagel from Call Your Mother – it's my favorite weekend treat and totally worth the hype. Beyond that, Washington D.C. is a culinary paradise, with options for every budget. To Grab a bite to eat!, I often explore the vibrant food truck scene around the National Mall or venture into neighborhoods like Columbia Heights or Adams Morgan for diverse and affordable international cuisine. While places like THE BAZAAR BY JOSE ANDRES might be a splurge, it's fun to explore different restaurant districts and discover new flavors. There are always new places to try, whether you’re looking for a quick, cheap meal or celebrating a special occasion with friends.
