We moved!
We moved from the sunflower state of Kansas to the sunshine state of Florida!
Moving from Kansas to Florida was a huge change for us, both in climate and lifestyle. Coming from the heartland known for its wide open fields and sunflower seasons, Florida offers a completely different vibe with its beaches, tropical weather, and year-round outdoor activities. One of the biggest adjustments was getting used to the heat and humidity after living in Kansas. While the sunshine is wonderful, the summer months require extra care with hydration and sun protection. That said, it’s rewarding to be able to spend so much time outdoors, from relaxing on the beach to exploring nature trails in state parks. We also found that Florida’s diverse cultural influences bring a lively community to engage with, including amazing food scenes especially in coastal cities. The move encouraged us to try new hobbies like paddleboarding and boating, which are popular local pastimes. Of course, relocating had its challenges—the logistics of packing, transporting our belongings, and finding a new home were demanding, but the excitement of starting fresh helped us stay motivated. Establishing new routines, discovering nearby shops, and making new friends made the transition smoother over time. Overall, moving from the sunflower state to the sunshine state has opened up many new opportunities for us and enriched our lifestyle. For anyone considering a move like this, I’d recommend embracing the change fully, being prepared for the different climate, and taking advantage of the unique adventures Florida has to offer.
