Origins of My Mermaid Sims: Part 6 🧜🏽♀️🧜🏼♂️
As promised, I have returned to regale you all with tales of my favorite mermaid Sim family: continuing with Mr. Alikai Mahi’ai 🧜🏼♂️!
About a million and two Sim years ago (yes, Alikai is younger than Kealii), I created Alikai Mahi’ai—who manifested into reality as a mermaid 🧜🏽♀️. Or merman 🧜🏼♂️? Idk 😂. In any case, he was a smoking hot 🔥 island babe, ready for the world.
His initial traits, before the game got going were: Sun child ☀️ (a morning person); child of Sulani 🏝️(re: having a special connection to the island); outdoor lover 🪵, and overachiever 💯. These would change and/or evolve as the game went on.
As an overachiever 💯, Alikai was interested in many things. But he zeroed in on reading 📖 first. And not just reading anything either. As both a merman 🧜🏼♂️ and a member of the Sulani people 🏝️, Alikai voraciously read up on both. Admittedly, he read up on mermaid mythology 🧜🏼♂️ a bit more.
You see, Alikai was curious about the history of his kind and his latent abilities ✨. He inhaled every bit of mermaid text 🧜🏽♀️📘 he could get his hands on. Honestly, he read so much that if no other career panned out (I’ll get to that), he could get by on being a mermaid scholar 🧜🏽♀️🧑🏽🏫 !
Soon, he got to a page in his reading about a deep sea conch 🐚. He got a little freaked out 😨when he came across lore about Davy Jones 🏴☠️ and Sea Witches 🌊 🧙🏽 and eventually closed the book.
After that, Alikai found himself picking up baking 🧁. Out of boredom one day, he came across a baking show 🥖📺. Which resulted in him going down a rabbit hole of baked goods until he found himself baking biscuits 🍞🍯 with honey at THREE in the MORNING 🌅.
I’m not even joking.
Next, Alikai picked up mixology 🍸. I was a bit concerned because my Sims tend to have addictive personalities (IDK man 🤷🏾♀️), but it became pretty clear that he was just into the art of it.
Alikai was truly happy (and as Sim God 👩🏾🦳 that made me happy too)… until it dawned on him that he needed money 💰. The next day, he went out and got a job as a campaign intern 🧑🏽💼. Which was perfect for him because he wanted to know the civic inner workings of his hometown. And all was well… until a coworker got him sick 🤒 and he ended up with…the mumps.
THE MOTHERFŲCKING MUMPS.
I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT.
I was sick 🤢 and so was he 😂
They sent him home for a few days and he spent those next days depressed and flopping around in the water 🌊. When suddenly, he came across something swimming around him—which eventually revealed itself to be a dolphin 🐬 . Alikai was shocked, but grateful for the company. He played with the dolphin 🐬 and got to know and they became fast friends 👯♂️.
And then something odd happened. Alikai’s dolphin 🐬 friend eventually swam up to Alikai with something in its mouth. Upon further inspection, it turned out to be the conch shell 🐚 that Alikai read about. He freaked out again 😀! But after the dolphin 🐬 calmed him down, Alikai reluctantly accepted it.
That night, shït got even weirder. Alikai had purposely left the shell 🐚 outside to put some space between it and him. Still. He heard a sudden crash 💥 outside and ran out 🏃🏽♂️➡️. When he got there, he saw what looked like a fountain ⛲️ next to the shell 🐚 and both glimmered under the moonlight 🎑. He felt compelled to go over there and stare into the fountain ⛲️ .
He stared into the water, completely mesmerized 😵💫. And soon the urge came over him to sing 🎤 to it. So, he took a deep breath 😮💨 and opened his mouth—with no clue about what he was about to get himself into.
