ARC Review: Unseen by Christy Healy
First I want to thank Christy Healy and Tales & Teacups for this ARC and the opportunity to read this book!
It’s the first time that I read a book and asked myself do I really like the protagonist and let me tell you at times I was like Riona what are we doing? Riona had me wanting to close the book and at the same time wanting to know what else she’d get into. I loved her sassy stubborn nature and the fact that she never changed for anyone. I loved that Riona isn’t a “perfect” human being and enjoyed reading about someone who’s at times is a little unlikable and grumpy but who also loves so deeply. Someone who will go to any lengths, sacrifice it all for those she loves.
And Conor! Mr Cabbage who I think his character development really demonstrates that it’s ok to be sensitive and vulnerable. At the same time is so fiercely loyal and loving that it shows that protection of those we love comes in different forms. He knows no other way to love than how he loves. Riona and Conor balance each other out and are equals in every sense.
This book is beautifully written and the themes of grief death and sacrifice are so well written it had me in the trenches when people were lost and when Riona and Conor had to really think and reflect on how far they’d go to protect those they love.
